  1. There were these 2 brothers from France that would come every summer. They really got me into psg. They brought us shirts, signed balls, other random trinkets. This was let 90s, early 00s when they weren’t the same powerhouse they were before and after my fandom. I think the one ended up playing low level pro league in NY after I lost touch. Does soccer have an eliteprospects equivalent?

That’s cool man. They are a classic team to be fair, albeit they have changed a lot since foreign investment in recent decades, much like Manchester City.

I can’t say I use a website per say, just good old google, but others may have a suggestion. I can only think of Transfermarkt.

  2. I wish I had watched the game tbh, the FIFA career has made me invested in some of these players! I checked the match on Transfermarkt. Did Gallagher start on the RW or up top? It has Dolan as the starting center forward. Either way, good start to the campaign with Swansea expected to do well yet again.

Messi officially being announced as a PSG player. Man, that team with him, Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria...stacked. We'll see if they can handle the CL this year. Completely fizzled out last campaign.

Gallagher is a tall centre forward, sometimes gets pushed wider but won’t now Armstrong is gone. Dolan a small tricky speedy wide player (looked really good when I saw him last season).

Sorry man. Gonna be tough without Armstrong. 15mil pounds not a terrible return.

Tbh I’m ok with this. We aren’t getting promoted and need to stay in the championship. We haven’t signed a player yet this summer and lost 11 I believe. It’s a team of kids. This gives us enough time to go and get some bodies before the deadline that can help keep us up, and maybe surprise a few with a bit of luck and a fast start. He didn’t play the opener, we won, and his replacement scored. Good player but not sure he is worth it based on one strong season, but it’s the going rate these days and I think he’s 24 now also.

Only thing that sucks is 40% goes back to Newcastle.

  4. It's a few things. Conte left Inter, and Lukaku loves Conte. Italy's Serie A finances are in shambles and Inter needs to offload some talent to bring in revenue. Lukaku could be attracted by the fact Chelsea don't have an out and out striker, and they just won Champions League. Under Tuchel, they're a threat to win the PL as well.

All good points but I guess I’m saying after how he was treated there could they not find him another suitor? But I agree Chelsea becomes legit, even more so.

  5. In fairness you guys watch your team more than me, I watch on occasion so trust your judgement here. Agree White was a decent signing in general though. Strange you mention about Pepe’s improvement at the end of the season as my buddy said the same the other day. I just hope whoever they sign it doesn’t reduce Smith-Rowe’s minutes too much. Bama and Laca have had their moments as you say, but they are trending down and it’s not like their best efforts won you much right.

  6. I mean, our 39 goals conceded was third to only Man City and Chelsea. The problem was that we couldn't score.

A fair point, I didn’t check their stats. I think where I’m coming from is although they don’t get well beaten, hence the low goals against, they don’t seem hard to score against. Hence why they lost a bunch of home games to teams they shouldn’t have. I don’t remember top teams struggling to score against them either, unlike a Van Dijk Liverpool or Dias City team. It’s like they settle for a modest loss to the bigger teams who cruise to a win.

Anyways, I agree the issue is creativity, seems to have been that way for a while now. IMO it’s players like Bama, Lacazette, Pepe etc. starting over the kids who don’t get a look in at times. I mean, look what Willock did at Newcastle given the opportunity. I’m not saying he’s a world beater or the answer, but they need to play the kids more not the overpaid mercenaries and foreigners they sign.

Saka, Rowe and Martinelli need to be heavily involved this season.

  7. Man City: Sign Grealish

Man United: Sign Sancho and Varane (pending)

    Chelsea: Sign Lukaku

    Liverpool: Sign Konate

    Spurs: Sign Gil and Romero

    Leicester: Sign Daka and Soumare

    Villa: Sign Buendia, Baily, Ings

Arsenal: Sign Ben White to reinforce a top defense, while the team couldn't score last year. Better pray for deadline day moves.

Top defense is a stretch lol.

Never gonna change without new ownership. Owners won’t spend, they run the club like a business not a football club. Plus you aren’t in the Champions League (or either Europa I think?), so where would the money come from for $100m on Grealish or $76m for Sancho. Plus, those players don’t want to join Arsenal at this moment in time, and frankly you can’t blame them.

Excluding the top 4 teams on your list your signings are on par with the rest. Arsenal need to build around Saka and Smith Rowe (I really like this kid). The last two attacking players you signed were Pepe and Willian I believe which says it all.

On a positive note, Rovers in a playoff spot as it stands!!! Lmao.

  8. Going to be great for those workday afternoons to just have something nice on in the background. This Bournemouth/WBA game is a pretty good opener

These WBA kits are just knockoff Arsenal bruised bananas!

Yeah was a good game from what I saw, and thought the same re the kit lmao.

  9. I was a huge PSG fan, like 20 years ago.

I randomly saw them play Bordeaux at Parc des Princes like 20+ years ago. Bought a fake ticket but they were cool about it and still let me in lol.

  11. Maybe it's posturing to make LaLiga relax their salary cap strictness so they can bring back their main selling point? There's just too few places for Messi to realistically go. I saw somewhere that City are out because they didn't plan Messi to be available, and went with Grealish instead. Plus Grealish got the #10.

I mean, Grealish is younger and has lots more in the tank plus room for growth. 100% Messi is better but it’s a stop gap to create large revenue quickly, which lets be honest they don’t really need aside from IF they were to win the UCL and the windfall that would generate.

I don’t mind a salary cap concept, albeit I’m not familiar with how La Liga work theirs. I would be all for it in England. It promotes playing youth which in turn improves the national team, and creates more parity (similar to NA sports with the draft and FA system). In a salary cap world Grealish is still at Villa which would be good for the league IMO.

  12. Tbh outside of PSG and Man City, Inter Miami or LA Galaxy would probably be next on the list. But he’s still far too good for MLS. He could play here at 40 lol.

  13. They’re really thin on D. If Mings or Konsa goes down, they only have one backup. I do think I was being a bit harsh now that I’m thinking on a full night’s sleep however. 9-13 might be a bit more realistic. I’d be happy to be proven wrong as the entire team steps up and elevates their play without Grealish

Yeah both those points seem fair. But the thing is every team outside the top 5-7 have very little depth. It’s the nature of the beast, especially post covid with squad sizes reducing to save on wages and lack of transfer funds available. Still time for them to add before the deadline and it’s not like they don’t have money now right. I don’t mind Villa, them and Leeds are the most entertaining of ‘the rest’ once you eliminate the ‘big teams’ IMO.

  15. I think Grealish is way better than Sinclair or Rodwell, or guys City signed like Delph that just weren't up to the level of play expected. I think he'll fight for time and have to learn how to go from "the guy" to "one of many", and if he can transition successfully I think it'll propel him further.

Villa I think will be in the 12-15 spot in the table without Grealish. They've made some really savvy signings. An attack featuring Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings, Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey, and support guys like El Ghazi, Traore and McGinn means their attack likely won't faulter to dismal levels. Still, it'll be an adjustment to not having a single star player.

Messi allegedly has already been in contact with PSG, so he and Neymar may get to play together again.

I mean, he missed a decent chunk of time last season and they still won games so I think 12-15 may be harsh. The difference with Villa is they can defend, to their credit.

  16. I’m not going to lie. I don’t care for Grealish. Is he a talent? Yes. Is he a footballer? ……..

First, I can’t stand how he wears his shin guards and socks. I know that’s pittance in the end of things, but it’s annoying AF to me. Second, I can’t stand how he gets could be contact he initiated himself. I know it’s something the EPL is trying to end so there is that. Third, his hair Is also annoying AF. It’s not 1997 m8. Fourth, he’s the type of player that benefits from as many touches as possible. Kevin DB is their maestro. Grealish is not. I could go on but you get the point.

    Lmao, all valid gripes.

  17. Grealish better sign that paperwork ASAP lol

Lmao, very true. Villa just spent $55m so it better go through lol

Edit: Just saw he signed. Think City might regret this signing. Shades of Chelsea and City a few years back signing young English talent and barely playing them (Parker, Wright-Phillips, Sinclair, Rodwell etc). Though that trend had ended but we’ll see I might be wrong. I will say it’s good for the national team him being coached by Pep though.

  18. Two episodes into season 2. Loved season 1 but that was always gonna be hard to follow. Still funny viewing IMO but it reminds me of home which may be why

  19. Yeah swift work by Villa. Some solid replacements just not the dynamism of Grealish, who I don’t see working at City.

Kane I don’t like the approach. I get he wants to move and I’m fine with that but there are/were better ways to deal with it.

  20. I'm just eargerly awaiting the Portuguese influction that comes with a team managed by Nuno and his relationship with recruiting via Mendes. Guy is known for super shady deals, which will clash heavily with Levy's conservative approach to fees.

Yeah my brother is concerned about random Portuguese signings lol. Although to be fair Wolves couldn’t attract top players whereas Spurs probably can. There will be some but less I figure.

  21. Daniel Levy is probably the most stubborn person to try and negotiate with. I could see Kane not being allowed to leave.

This. I see prior points, but Kane isn’t going anywhere, YET. My brother has season tickets at Spurs, and that stadium doesn’t pay for itself. I actually think if England had won the Euros he would have signed a new contract, but obviously he still hasn’t won anything. I like the new coach from Wolves but they have a lot of work to do same as Arsenal, if not more. I would love to see him abroad tbh, Barca like Lineker.

  22. Yeah, United still are behind City but you never know. They really are Champions League or bust at this point anyway. Chelsea I can’t decide if overachieved after sacking Lampard or if they just are that good. Liverpool will be much better this year. All this hopefully means more teams take points away from City keeping the top 4 all closer together. Interesting year this will be.

Yup. Will be a more competitive season, agree re Chelsea and Liverpool. Makes for an interesting season. Don’t forget, City still don’t have a striker (other than Jesus who is hit and miss).
