  1. I get the thinking about him filling a bottom six role but doesn?t that mean he takes a roster spot from a guy who can grow into that role...or more? I hear you about how we?d have missed the playoffs this season but so what? We weren?t a playoff team anyway. Developing a core AND a supporting cast is important to me. I?m already resigned to this season being another development year so let?s have that. Yeah, Prospal played a great role but I?d much rather add that kind of guy as one of the final pieces to the puzzle later than sooner.
  2. ^This!^ I was reading through the thread before posting - NYR 'run-n-gun' style with smaller, faster players (bring back Zuccc and Miller) with NO CHECKING is exactly what the doctor ordered (no pun intended) so if the NHL adopted this idea, we are the next Cup winner. No checking? We win. Start passing out the dress uniforms. LOL
  3. Such a talent...RIP guitar god. Stern did a wonderful tribute on his show today.
  4. Welcome to the BSBH - we are always happy to add new NYR fans on the bus. So many great comments already, and as you have read, these guys are so friendly and knowledgeable that this site is well worth a daily visit. I want to emphasize that NYR play at MSG - Madison Square Garden - the world's most famous arena. So many wonderful moments in history have occurred there and to think that there is an event happening almost every night of the year is amazing in itself. My son and I took in a Knicks game in the afternoon and a Rangers game at night and that was really cool. Enjoy the ride and fan real hard by sending the team good vibes. Onward to the Cup!
  5. The eye-test on Simmonds seems to indicate a guy who no longer plays with that shift-in and shift-out hard edge. I would have like him as a NYR a few years back but not now. Am I wrong?
  6. Brooks just looking for eyeballs. I don?t believe this line of thinking. Trouba?s not here forever.
  7. I was never suggesting we need 12 years to get to the promised land but In spite of the good run we had this season I don?t see us being that close when compared to teams in the finals. We?re not big, not nearly physical enough and we don?t have 12 forwards and 6 d-men working as a cohesive unit. I see progress for sure and our trajectory and timeline so far has been great but...excluding a Cinderella-like run were not a multi-year threat just yet. I?m being cautious in my praise ?out of an abundance of caution.? (My NYR heart cannot take much more sports related disappointment.) ;-)
  8. If he still has wheels... While I?d prefer seeing someone develop with the team it makes sense if Grabs has the speed. It could also give us a look at how well Kreider?s primary asset will look like down the road.
  9. Very well written piece that is a compelling read. ?The moment I entered Walt Disney World, I felt extremely sad. I was driving alone in a hypersanitized rental car, wearing two masks and a pair of disposable gloves, with all the windows rolled down to blast out any lingering virus. Florida?s atmosphere was gushing in all over, swamping me with its jungly breath. The dashboard thermometer said 100 degrees. The freeway took me past multiple theme parks ? SeaWorld and Universal Studios and a Bible-based attraction called The Holy Land Experience. At one point, I passed a fake volcano. Billboards advertised gun shows and hospitals and lawyers and Botox.? https://t.co/XFllRKtNNc
  10. The promos photo of him lying on his side wearing only a mask...as a cup with the strap pulled over his head is a hoot. I can't say that I really appreciate, or get the humor, but he has marked out a niche.
  11. Patience is key. 12 years worth? I hope we don't have to wait that long. I have faith in JD since he's been through this before and knows what it looks like from the other side of the glass. I'm good with whatever JD does at this point.
  12. I pray this doesn?t happen. I?d be rooting for the team win but the sadness of having beaten Henrik - especially if he was in net for the penultimate game, possibly in drama riddled OT - would taint our Cup memories forever. We don?t need that as fans.
  13. What?s the wisdom of such a one-year deal though? If you plan for him being gone after a year what did you gain? I?d much rather a younger, healthier player in the lineup who has the potential to help the team for a long time.
  14. How would you feel about NYR meeting up with Henrik in a Cup finals should he play for Avs or another finalist? It might pull at heartstrings but I want a Cup too.
  15. HAM is a crybaby. And not to far behind him in that category is VET. I appreciate both guy?s skills but I can do without the complaints. Both of them should listen to RIC?s acceptance of responsibility for his error. He never whines like those two. BOT soft? I guess I never really saw him like that but when you mention Niko, you nailed it. Sochi proved to be better than expected in the drama department- the first lap incidents were plentiful. The exit ?aisle? near those bollards in turn 4 is quite slim. Too slim for safety IMO. I came to the race expecting a parade and some actual racing happened.
  16. Tampa brought a storm of offense in both OTs and DAL weathered it. Lightening are fast and can really move the puck around. Awesome game.
