[friedman] Michael Grabner on Waivers for Buy Out
4EverRangerFrank replied to Lord Al's topic in Hockey Around the Globe
If he still has wheels... While I?d prefer seeing someone develop with the team it makes sense if Grabs has the speed. It could also give us a look at how well Kreider?s primary asset will look like down the road. -
Very well written piece that is a compelling read. ?The moment I entered Walt Disney World, I felt extremely sad. I was driving alone in a hypersanitized rental car, wearing two masks and a pair of disposable gloves, with all the windows rolled down to blast out any lingering virus. Florida?s atmosphere was gushing in all over, swamping me with its jungly breath. The dashboard thermometer said 100 degrees. The freeway took me past multiple theme parks ? SeaWorld and Universal Studios and a Bible-based attraction called The Holy Land Experience. At one point, I passed a fake volcano. Billboards advertised gun shows and hospitals and lawyers and Botox.? https://t.co/XFllRKtNNc

'Borat' Sequel Lands at Amazon Prime Video
4EverRangerFrank replied to Phil's topic in TV, Music, & Movies
The promos photo of him lying on his side wearing only a mask...as a cup with the strap pulled over his head is a hoot. I can't say that I really appreciate, or get the humor, but he has marked out a niche. -
[brooks] Rangers "aren't even close," says JD
4EverRangerFrank replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Patience is key. 12 years worth? I hope we don't have to wait that long. I have faith in JD since he's been through this before and knows what it looks like from the other side of the glass. I'm good with whatever JD does at this point. -
confirmed: Rangers Buyout Final Year of Henrik Lundqvist's Contract
4EverRangerFrank replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I pray this doesn?t happen. I?d be rooting for the team win but the sadness of having beaten Henrik - especially if he was in net for the penultimate game, possibly in drama riddled OT - would taint our Cup memories forever. We don?t need that as fans. -

What?s the wisdom of such a one-year deal though? If you plan for him being gone after a year what did you gain? I?d much rather a younger, healthier player in the lineup who has the potential to help the team for a long time. -

How would you feel about NYR meeting up with Henrik in a Cup finals should he play for Avs or another finalist? It might pull at heartstrings but I want a Cup too. -

motorsports: F1 2020 Resumes with Austria Race

HAM is a crybaby. And not to far behind him in that category is VET. I appreciate both guy?s skills but I can do without the complaints. Both of them should listen to RIC?s acceptance of responsibility for his error. He never whines like those two. BOT soft? I guess I never really saw him like that but when you mention Niko, you nailed it. Sochi proved to be better than expected in the drama department- the first lap incidents were plentiful. The exit ?aisle? near those bollards in turn 4 is quite slim. Too slim for safety IMO. I came to the race expecting a parade and some actual racing happened. -

Is P3 a better starting spot over pole? BOT seems to think so. VER on shaky ground in P2 as midfield will be nipping at the top. Ferrari not looking too prosperous going into the Sochi race. -
I'm in the 'let's know' camp.

Funny thing - every once in a while I remind myself that NYR have #1 Draft Pick...and suddenly the sun shines bright on the world! -
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind Very dense reading with a ton of information and examples. I'm half-way through and will push on to the end.

Giants-Mets-Jets-Red Bulls-Knicks...about all one NY fan stomach can take. They had a shot in the waning seconds to pull victory from the jaws of defeat. But alas, no such miracle.

[brooks] Rangers to Loan Vitaly Kravtsov to KHL for 2020-21 Season

OMG yes! Did I read correctly? 6 goals in 7 games? Awesome for the kid. -
NYC DOE Delays School Re-opening — AGAIN
4EverRangerFrank replied to Blue Heaven's topic in The Bar Room
My nephew attends Bronx Science. We'll see how this all plays out but he was telling me recently that if they attend in person, he gets his usual AP curriculum. But if they had to go virtual, the curriculum would revert to the 'standard' state mandate for his grade. Kid taught himself an advanced math class this summer in order to prepare for what he knew would be a challenging course. Now, he's facing the prospect of having to take a class he already finished two years ago. The lack of preparation by those in charge for all students is deplorable. -
Belated Happy B-day, bud!

You've Just Won the Lottery ? What Are You Still Refusing to Buy?
4EverRangerFrank replied to Phil's topic in The Bar Room
IDK guys...seems like I'm the only one buying stuff and spending that loot. If it truly is more money than you can ever spend, why not use it? I agree that $1-2 million doesn't change your life much, but $30-50M? $100-200M? I'm not saying a 123-room mansion makes any sense at all and by all accounts is pretty much unlivable but you do keep the economy moving with all the staff and maintenance help. 56,000' Home takes an army of help to run. https://www.wsj.com/articles/what-it-takes-to-run-spelling-manor-the-disneyland-of-private-homes-11591800016 -

NYC DOE Delays School Re-opening — AGAIN
4EverRangerFrank replied to Blue Heaven's topic in The Bar Room
What?s happening is unconscionable but I?m not surprised. I?ve written here before about spending 13 years as a junior high teacher in NY. One of the many things wrong with education management is that few are qualified to lead by way of training. Classroom teacher ?> Assistant Principal ?> Principal ?> assistant Superintendent?> Superintendent. The education steps along the way are very light on management and leadership training/education. It?s no wonder to me that we are ?here? with such a mess to be figured out at this late stage of the game.
