  1. Sure, but with Chytil signing the 4 year deal I think a trade is unlikely. Not a far stretch for him to be a 30-30 guy next year which would be great 3C production.
  2. Because he sucks. That's the point. A bunch of hits and having 5 pucks bounce off of you into the net over 60-80 games is meaningless. We need 4th liners that can skate, have a high motor to forecheck and harass the opponent, and aren't defensive liabilities. I don't care if they throw 50 hits or 200 hits.
  3. I disagree. I see Trocheck traded in the summer of 25. Chytil will have 2 two years left on his contract and will be in about the same spot career-wise as Zib when he really broke out.
  4. Great. Guess the stat line: 61 games, 5 goals, 15 points, 152 hits Should we go get this guy?
  5. That list is just the most searched names on Capfriendly's buyout calculator. It's meaningless.
  6. Where's the ballsy prediction thread? Kakko is gonna play with Mika all year and be on PP1. 30 goals and 75 points.
  7. A, Even is supposed to be good? 2, who cares about the regular season? I've seen a bunch of posts now, "Player X only scored [this many] 5v5 goals against playoff teams!" Who cares? You also going to go through every game to find when the backup goalie played? When one team was playing the second half of a back-to-back and the other was rested? When a team had played 3 in 4 nights or 5 in 7 nights? Were the teams resting guys that were banged up? I couldn't care less about the regular season series. We've seen plenty of times where regular season series results don't match playoff results due to those listed factors. Bottom line is Igor was a brick wall and the Rangers barely won the season. The Rangers got outshot by 50+ shots in that series. What exactly did Gallant do to give them the edge? I seem to remember the narrative last year being, "Why are we going to 7 games against these 2nd and 3rd string goalies?" Now somehow that has shifted to, "GG didn't get outcoached by Sullivan or BrindAmour. Look at these series wins! Don't look at the goalie matchups or Crosby getting knocked out. Those things don't matter. It was all GG."
  8. Igor had a .950 SV% and the series still went 7 games, but sure they beat the Canes because of Gallant.
  9. This draft seems hard to predict. If you look at all the different rankings on elite prospects there is a lot of variation across all the outlets they have linked. I will say this though, I like where Drury has been going with his drafts and have confidence in his drafting so far.
  10. I don't have to think anything. The players literally asked for more direction in their exit interviews. Hence why GG is jobless.
  11. Couldn't get Boston over the top. Lost in the finals in game 7. What a scrub.
  12. https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/37827782/jimmy-dunne-outlines-plan-pga-tour-loyalists-liv-players-want-back
  13. If that was true the Oilers would be in the finals every year.
  14. You're still missing the point. He doesn't need coaching to learn how to play the game because as you pointed out he's 29 and in the NHL. What he didn't get from GG was a structured plan for D-zone coverage and zone exits. He was winging it out there, which was a common issue with anyone not paired with Fox. Yes, good teams apply pressure. Well-coached teams (not the Rangers) have a plan to deal with pressure. If have a few set breakouts, the players know where their outlets are and they can make quick decisions to exit the zone. If the opponent shuts those set plays down, the coach should be able *gasp* to make adjustments accordingly. Poorly coached teams (this one's the Rangers) don't have a plan. When the Dmen retreive the puck in the D-zone they need to stop, hold onto to puck, find out where all their teammates are, and then decide what play to make. Only Fox is good enough to hold onto the puck that long and his partner simply has to play catch with him. There needs to be a plan in order for the players to execute it.
  15. What? There's a difference between growing up and learning fundamentals, and being in the NHL and working within a system with your teammates. Both are coaching, both are different. Why are they under pressure with the puck? Because they have to think about what they need to do with the puck before they move it which makes them hold onto the puck too long because they don't know where their outlets are because they have no system. Lindgren plays with Fox, Mikkola looked fine with Fox when Lindgren was hurt. Fox is a top 3 dman in the League and has a special ability to hold onto the puck and read the play. That doesn't mean they'd be even better if they could move the puck quicker within a system where everyone is on the same page.
  16. Why would you trade him after this season and let someone else get a year of Shesty at $5.6? My bet would be on him playing out his contract and leaving in free agency. Hopefully, Garand builds on his playoff performance, has a good year next year, and can be the backup in 24/25. As long as this is a playoff team they aren't trading Shesty.
  17. Who said that? Everyone knows that coaching in the NHL and coaching in mites isn't the same right? If they had effective coaching we wouldn't complain about every non-Lindgren's D-zone coverage. When every Dman looks lost in the D-zone and their only zone exit is high off the glass, that's a coaching issue. Not because they don't know how to play, but because they don't know what each other are doing because they're all freelancing because the coach hasn't given them a system where everyone has a defined assignment and role.
  18. No. Forsberg is a wing. Their top line was Forsberg-Duchene-Granlund.
  19. Don't bother. It's impossible to value your comparison when you have 2nd line center PP1 Johansen compared to 3rd line center barely gets any PP time Chytil. Your comparison also make no mention of Lindgren which is odd.
  20. Again, your telling me this roster is on par with the current Rangers. Its not close. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/NSH/2022.html
  21. Why am I looking at Spicey Pork? He was trash. The series was close because Igor was shell shocked by Crosby in Pitt. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/NSH/2022.html They were a one line team with Josi and a decent goalie and AHL backups. I don't know how you can look at that roster and say it's better and deeper than the Rangers.
  22. Go take a look at the career sv% for Halak and then Rittich/Ingram.
  23. Wait what? What makes Jeannot a stud? Was it the 24 goals he scored in his first full season...under Hynes? Or was it the 4 points in 20 games he scored for Tampa? The no points and -2 in 3 playoff games for Tampa?
  24. Do I really have to explain the difference between 'all you can do is rely on your goalie to carry the team' versus losing your starter and having David Rittich and Connor Ingram as your backups?
