  1. Post game interviews with the media =/= exit interviews with the GM.
  2. But we know the scores can score. Last postseason in 20 games Zib had 10 goals and 24 points, Kreider had 10 goals Fox was over a ppg, Panarin had 16 points, Chytil had 7 goals. This year they dominated the Devils in the 3 games they won. In the 4 games they lost where was the coach to fix their zone exits and entries? You're essentially taking the GG approach. The scorers need to score more....I'm not gonna tell them how though, they've just gotta do it.
  3. How would reaming the living fuck out of the players counter the adjustments that Ruff made?
  4. But again absent a plan (from the players' own mouths), did they not make the required difference when the game got nasty last season essentially gutting their way to the ECF? As @Pete has said many times, hard to judge the players when they've never had a real coach.
  5. How can we draw this conclusion when this group of players has never had structure?
  6. No, Hynes has had success with young players. But that doesn't even matter. They'll have maybe one rookie in Cuylle or Othmann up front and possibly Jones on D. They other 'young' players all have 3, 4, 5 years in the league. They need a plan so they can just go play without have to think so much. They're all well passed needing their hand held as the adjust to the league. People hate Hynes and don't even really now why. He's ugly. He’s not an exciting name. He's boring. What do these things even mean? He's a coach with a good defensive system. He's proven the ability to limit quality chances against. This would be the deepest and most talented team he's ever had with one of the best goalies in the world. There's a lot to be intrigued by. We should be thinking more about what this team needs than what coaches have done in previous locations. Hynes addresses most of the things that have been issues for years.
  7. Maybe he really liked it here. Gorton refused to go 3 years. Drury didn't.
  8. Looks like Panarin-Zib with Tarasenko, off-wing Kreider, and Goodrow were all good. Only partner that really didn't work with them was Kakko. But Gallant was a wiz at sticking with lines and getting good matchups.
  9. You keep saying -31 like every goal was his fault. What was Batherson doing with his -35, or Pinto with his -21? Maybe the coach shouldn't have left that line together.
  10. Cool, so he worked better with Kane than with Shane Pinto and Drake Batherson. If he came here he'd play with either Zib or Panarin which is probably great if he scores 40 goals with good linemates.
  11. LOL, what? The Rangers sent 'the letter' under AV in 17/18. Zib broke out in 18/19. They signed Panarin, Fox and Lindgren debuted in 19/20. Shesterkin took over in 20/21. Gallant took over in 21/22. In 18/19 Kyle Palmeri lead the Devils in scoring with 50, Hall was hurt, Hischer and Bratt were 20, their top D pair was Severson and Vatanen, and they had Keith Kinkaid start 38 games. Totally supposed to be competitive. Hughes, as a frail 18 yo, played the majority of his time with Palmeri, Hall, Hichser, and Bratt. When he wasn't with them he was with Simmonds so he didn't die. In his time with Hynes, he averaged 16:02 a night and had 11 points in 24 games. After Hynes left, Hughes averaged 15:46 a night and had 10 points in 37 games.
  12. When the coach is there for 5 years and they only make the playoffs once forgive me for not crediting the coach with being what put them over the top for the cup win.
  13. Laviolette had a season in NSH where they won they divison, 47-29-6 for 100 points. Lost in the first round. Hynes had one 45-30-7 for 97 points. Finished 5th in the division, lost in the first round. Is that division win really that special? Were the rebuilding Devils supposed to be contending for the division title at the same time?
  14. I'm not comparing them either. When people say Hynes sucks. Look at the 2 teams and circumstances he coached in. Laviolette had 3 good years out of 20+. But the Flyers made a cup final and 2 second rounds! 2 second rounds where they went 1-8, which I guess is something, before failing to make the playoffs.
  15. My timeline is fine. Look at the Flyers the two years before he got there. They were already good.
  16. Lead him along? Pretty sure he knows Hynes is also in the running.
  17. Laviolette has coached for over 20 years with 5 different teams. Hynes coming to the Rangers is the equivalent of when Laviolette went to the Flyers, a team that went Conference Finals to first round exit be Laviolette got there.
  18. Where else is he gonna go? The only other opening is Calgary.
