The One That Got Away
Long live the King replied to Kick save and a beauty's topic in New York Rangers
No Gauthier on your list? -
Fox could have both arms tied behind his back and play better D than Jones.

What Are Your Worries or Concerns?
Long live the King replied to Kick save and a beauty's topic in New York Rangers
Except they aren't. October (9 GP): GF - 12 (tied 26th) November (10 GP): GF - 25 (tied 13th) VAN is 5th this month with 29 in 3 more GP. With the Rangers scoring 2.5 5v5 GPG you'd expect they'd be top 5 in the league if they played the same amount of games. -
The Struggle Continues with Kaapo Kakko
Long live the King replied to The Dude's topic in New York Rangers
I'm talking this summer. Not making that trade now. I'm more comfortable with a rookie centering Panarin and Laf, than a rookie with Kreider and Zib based on the defensive assignments each team gets. Additionally, I'm not looking to add cap in the deal, I'm looking for a center on an ELC. That's the only way I move Miller. -

He's now 60+ minutes into being centered by Bonino and we're expecting an offensive breakout? Again the biggest whole on the roster is Chytil's status. -

I have him ear marked as a place holder for another year or 2 until Perrault is ready. I don't really care about his pace 20 games in. I trust Kakko's all around game on the top line more than either Othmann or Berard as rookies. That said, here is my question. How much Does Gus like playing for Lavi and in New York? Can you sign Gus in the $5-6 million dollar range and would Arizona give you Connor Geekie for a package built around Miller and either Chytil/Kakko? -

I don't think Kakko has anything to do with Berard or Othmann. If Othmann makes the team I'd put him on the 3rd line with Cuylle and Trocheck. Berard is the future Vesey replacement. Neither has anything to do with Kakko. Next year on Kakko is the top 6 RW placeholder until Perrault is ready. Kakko isn't an issue on the roster, the issue is Chytil's health and if they need to find a young top 6 center to replace him. -

Over the last 3 weeks (8 games) they have 20 5v5 goals. That's tied for 12th, 3 back from top 5. -
Rangers Great Start..playoff Standing
Long live the King replied to RangersLEETCH's topic in New York Rangers
There's absolutely a need for a middle 6 RW and, if Chytil is making no progress, a middle 6 C. Need more scoring in the top 6 than we'll get from Wheeler and Cuylle-Kakko need a more talented center than Bonino. Goodrow-Bonino-Vesey should be the 4th line. Pitlick the 13th F and Wheeler the 14th forward.- 1 reply

It's Time to Talk About Mika Zibanejad
Long live the King replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
It's you who has hate blinders on. He's never had stretches he looks like a top 10 player? What do you call 23 goals and 36 points in 22 games leading into the COVID shutdown? 20/21 stretch of 17 goals and 35 points in 23 games. 21/22 stretch of 15 goals and 32 points in 23 games. Last year he had stretches of 10 goals and 18 points in 13 games, 7 goals and 21 points in 14 games. We know he's capable of going on a dominant stretch, and it's happened every year. It's gonna happen again. He's not going to shoot 4.5% for the whole season. 20/21: "Long COVID made him forget how to shoot!" 3 goals and 9 points through 25 games, finished with 21 goals in the last 31. He's gonna be fine. But they should still trade Kreider and sign Nylander to play with Zib this summer. -
Way Too Early Trade Deadline Targets

Leetch got traded. Hank got bought out. Kreider isn't special. Nylander is a big upgrade and would bridge the post-Panarin years. -

I'd gladly take Nylander and say Othmann for 12-13m over Kreider and Goodrow for 10. The difference is easy to over come. I'll trade legacy and comaradery for a 5 year young player that scores 40 more points. -

I really wanted to grab him when he held out. This summer trade Kreider sign Nylander. -

Yea, he only had 39 last year. What a bum. -
Kane was back skating so fast and they release so little information about injuries in the NHL. Do we even know for a fact that he had the full dislocated hip resurfacing procedure? Several basketball players have had arthroscopic hip shaving and been fine. For example, Duke forward Kyle Filipowski had both of his hips shaved in April and is back playing and feeling stronger and more flexible than ever 6 months later. Will probably be a finalist for the basketball version of the Hobey Baker this year. He is also 7 feet tall and 250 lbs so there's a lot of pressure on those hips. Jovanowski and Kesler were so long ago that they aren't medically relevant to this discussion.

I don't think you're looking at the reality of what went on. The players only ever saw and heard fromm GG on game day. He made no adjustments ever. They were completely on their own.

Lindholm for Chytil. -
He's just under 5.7. Give him 9x6.

Yes. Way too early. It's in the title. Krieder-Zib-Guentzel would be fantastic. Guentzel in Trocheck's spot on PP1 would also be lethal. -

But they didn't. So here they're are hoping to at best fight for a wild card spot. When they don't get it done Guentzel is a goner.
