QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

“I thought it was a big turning point in the game. We had not generated a ton in the first period. We get the power play in the second [period], we score a goal. The control line was out, Vesey and Rempe, they put it behind them and they finished some hits, they got some shots on net, next thing you know we’re back out with Trocheck’s line and a great goal, great play, and that evened things up. There was lots of energy on our bench, lots of energy in the building. From there, we just got better and better.”

A few different variations of how we can clinch a playoff spot tonight. Easiest one involves us winning. So let’s just do that.

All the scenarios for tonight

The New York Rangers will clinch a playoff berth:

If they defeat the Philadelphia Flyers in any fashion (7 p.m. ET; NBCSP, MSG)

OR

If they get one point AND the Detroit Red Wings lose to the Washington Capitals in any fashion (7 p.m. ET; MNMT, BSDET)

OR

If the Red Wings lose to the Capitals in regulation.

Strong strong strong guess for trivia. Outside the box. Torts has coached both teams, so has Keenan.

Rangers 5-4 with a scrappy win, 1st team to reach 100 pts.

Trivia is Kevin Hayes (no relation to Rutherford B Hayes)

Or Willie Mays Hayes 😀

Tortorella hasn't worn out his welcome in that locker room yet but he seems to be really really trying. He does it with every team he has ever coached so it is inevitable.

With that said we need to be clinical with these marginal playoff teams.  It is what good teams do when the schedule gets down to serious crunch time.

Kreider needs to be clutch and I don't mean that thing he does with his pearls.
