RichieNextel305
Kane, even limited, is still a better current option at RW than just about every single person currently on the roster, aside from Lafreniere. It’s an area of weakness. We’re allowed to admit it. Whether he’s a fit here? Debatable. Its an area of weakness that I’m sure Drury will be interested in improving at some point. Sharpshooter
If Kakko got hurt a couple of days before he actually did, is Kane a Ranger now? Who knows. But yeah, even a hobbled Kane is most likely better than folks like Wheeler and Brodzinski. lol It might have been a timing thing with the Kakko injury, or maybe they just couldn't make it work. He wasn't great here last year, and there were definitely some chemistry issues. Having said that, with how this team looks and the new staff, I would have absolutely been willing to run it back with him.
Karan
Hobbled Kane? That's bit of an understatement lol No NHL'er has gone on to complete a season after getting hip resurfacing surgery. This is a lot more than trying to come back after an ACL/MCL tear and playing at 50%. This is a potentially career ending procedure, so let's see if he even makes it to the end of the season. If he does, he'll be the first NHL'er to have ever done so after this procedure. Super relieved the Rangers didn't pursue signing him, just not worth the risk. The last wasn't playing and retired due to an eye injury, so he doesn't even count on the ledger. None of them are one season removed from being over point per game. So to say "if he does it, he'll be the only player to do it" doesn't really mean much considering the other players to do it were in much worse shape than he And there was only four of them to begin with. It's a pretty small sample size, but that doesn't really make it any better as a lot of guys with similar hip issues may have just opted not to get the surgery and ride it out. Regardless of how the other guys faired post-surgery, just don't see the need for the Rangers to take such a gamble in an already tight cap situation and thankfully management took a pass on this one. Agreed pre-Kakko injury. Would have liked him back after that, but they couldn't afford him. More for my own edification lol.
