QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

“We talked about being an aggressive forechecking team and that’s where you start playing fast. When you can play fast in all zones, you’re a good hockey team. We haven’t looked fast and we haven’t played fast for the good part of the season."

Hopefully we don't see HaLak tonight...

It's only been two games but he just looks done at this point. He looked pretty washed last year with Vancouver.

Anyway, this isn't a must-win by any stretch but another bomb and it could be a dreadful 0-4 on his homestand. Blech. The Isles always take these games very seriously, much more than the Rangers. Hopefully they can carry over some things from last night's game and improve on that.

I'd actually challenge that, a bit. I think it's a pretty pivotal game. They didn't lose more than 3 in a row at any point last season, and the Isles have also lost 3 straight.

That said, they stink. So even if the Rangers open a can of whoop ass on them, hard to see what the true identity of the team is. That might not happen until the ESPN+ game vs Boston on 11/3.

If they lose tonight, chaos ensues.

He's looked washed for at least a year and has been in decline for three straight. It's why I didn't want him signed.

We may need an injection of spicy Pork!

I thought Domingue looked pretty decent in pre season.

I don't think they played poorly against the Avs, but it's hard to not see a loss tonight, especially a bad one, as part of a pretty big collapse on the year. If you basically divide the games, they started incredibly hot and then largely imploded.

I have no faith in him either, but on paper, I'd take my chances with him over Halak. Begrudgingly.

Here's the thing about last night, they were just pretty fortunate. They got some real luck on MacKinnon overhandling the puck and Fox making that play. That's not a play that MacKinnon makes in June.

And of course Shesty was out of his mind.

The Avs were also missing their second best forward. We were missing Chytil.

In a seven game series, I doubt it would be very pretty, they'd be pretty lucky to win a game if they played the way they played last night.

Fair enough. 0-4 on this homestand would be a disaster no matter how you look at it.

Okay, but that wasn't a Stanley Cup final or a seven game series. I thought they played alright. They traded chances. I don't think I'd call Fox making a good defensive play on MacKinnon luck.

They played alright (just saw the CSA chart, must have been a good 2nd, because first was trash and third wasn't so great), but Colorado was missing a top line winger.

I didn't say Fox making the play was luck, I said MacKinnon overhandling it that way is not something he usually does.

Couple days off until the next game. No travel after last night's game. Shesty with that one sloppy play which led to the SHG. First NYI rivalry match up of the year in their barn. A big W here could really fire up the team and get them over this lump. Would love to see the coaching staff go against the grain and throw Shesty in tonight.

This is a schedule loss. Rangers facing a top team with a late start then having to travel (don't care how far, travel be travel) to a team on three days rest in a back-to-back.

It's a game that they probably need to win and are set up for a loss.

Accurate, but also, you just need to read who the opponent is to know this is true. It's the Isles. Rangers gonna get stomped. Isles will then go on to lose the next six straight.

It's a prime let-down game, but come on with travel. It takes as long to get to MSG from Westchester with traffic as is does to get to LI. That's no excuse whatsoever.

I'd be surprised if it isn't Jaro tonight.  If he can play half the game Geo played against his former team.

I've said it before, one of these years, Halak will no longer be the ideal No. 2.  Too early to tell, but it might be this year.  An underwhelming performance in very limited action last year might be indicative.

He was sound in his first start, if not his second.

Halak was good his first game and not so good the 2nd.

Too early to pass judgement on anyone on this team yet.

He was pretty shaky that first game but pulled a few good saves.

i didn’t see last game, but Maloneys sighs told me everything I needed to know
