Big cap hit this year and next, was in player assistance, effort and consistency issues plagued him in Washington.

 

Could also be Yzerman called a couple teams he felt could put in a claim, and felt them out before waiving him.

 

There were only a handful of teams who could afford to put the claim in in terms of cap and roster need. I'm really surprised Chicago didn't put a claim in just to trade him next year at the deadline.

3 goals, 5 pts in 5 games so far with Seattle. 2 of his goals on the PP, 30% shooting percentage. Good for him, always touted as having such high potential. Obviously small sample size and the shooting % will regress, but nice to see a guy find some initial success on a second chance.

Signed for one more season at $3.2M. Has had a hard falling off this season, but then again the Pens are mediocre.

Damn. If we had cap space,  I'd totally take that guy as a depth piece.
