Mcdavid also disappeared for three seasons prior before he figured it out

Even though this is mostly false, let's pretend it's true. McDavid was 19. Panarin is 30. What's to figure out?  You have to play in the middle of the ice, and he can't do it.

Not that I expect Panarin to be McDavid, but even a Dave Lowry level of effectiveness would be an improvement at this point. He's simply ineffective at 5v5. It's a 11.6 million cap hit, for a PP specialist. That's not good, in fact, it's horrible.

OK, now do it with Panarin playing with Draisaitl and Hyman....

And then do it with McDavid playing with Strome and Copp...

To the tune of like 22 points in 21 playoff games before this year.  I think that idea he didn’t figure it out is a Torts falsehood to some extent

If we’re going to use that argument panarin’s stat line is mostly the same

He didn't look settled this entire series. Every shift it felt like he was going to let in a goal. He just doesn't handle the Oilers well. He looked rock solid against Dallas. But looked like a shitty backup this series.

On some replays it looks like he kind of kicks it at the end there but man that’s a tough one.

I think he was just trying to slow his momentum and not hit the post. The shitty part for the Flames is that the frigging puck was already on it's way into the net without any involvement needed from him.

Yea that’s brutal dude I’d be losing it if that happened to us

I was on the side of "really horrible call" last night. But Bieksa actually kinda laid it out perfectly in between the 3rd and OT.

It was as much accidentally-on-purpose as some of the questionable hits we've seen over the years and Coleman likely knew what he was doing.

I can appreciate both side of the argument and only Coleman really knows the truth.

With that being said, it's a terrible way for that series to end. That was an amazing series.

My biggest beef is that it's just terribly inconsistent with what the league has called this season. IIRC, we had a game this season where a goal was allowed on us, even though it was off of a skate; the player was coming to a stop in the crease. To me, it's the same shit.
