Karan Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 (edited) Looks like the 'incident' occurs around the 0:17-0:20 mark of this video... Edited January 23, 2022 by Karan
Keirik Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Disgusting if true. When will these idiots learn? Better though to have them exposed rather them hide closet racism.
BlairBettsBlocksEverything Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 It’s interesting the guys teammates didn’t back him up. Almost like they knew they should let him get his bass beat
Phil Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Brazen, too, considering the AHL just suspended a guy thirty games for a racist gesture. Like, literally, a day ago. https://sports.yahoo.com/ahl-player-krystof-hrabik-suspended-30-games-for-racist-gesture-213812091.html
Scott Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 He did man up and delete his Twitter account immediately after the game. A true POS. Atta boy Jacob Panetta.
ThirtyONE Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 What a way to end your hockey career. pos 1

Blue Heaven Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Seems pretty sincere about it, and if its true that he was doing a tough guy pose then its nothing different as this.
Pete Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 My only question would be why neither his teammates nor the org came to his defense.
Blue Heaven Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 It should be pretty easy in the investigation to know if he meant it as a racist gesture, I would guess their would be some epithet and/or sounds that he said while doing the gesture. Officials were right there
josh Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Shit, guess I didn't submit this earlier Will probably win some appeal and sue the teams and league and make more money than he would playing.

Scott Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Somebody remind this clown Wilson did that after ragdolling half our team? This guy refused to fight Subban and did this shit behind his back and his own team did nothing to protect him. He was the farthest thing from a tough guy on the ice. Huge difference.
ThirtyONE Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) Could it be a the "tough guy" gesture? Sure. But this is the 3rd time in a month it's happened. Someone literally just got suspended for it a week ago. It's obvious this gesture toward a black athlete is not tolerated. It's obvious black athletes take offense to it because it's been used toward them in derogatory terms. Just as it could be the "tough guy" gesture, it could also not be. So don't fucking do it. It's not that they take offense, it's that it's interpreted that way by most people who see it. Like pointing your fingers while you waive. Just don't fucking do it.

BlairBettsBlocksEverything Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Certainly hope he's telling the truth. Seems fishy though. Id assume teammates would have been sticking up for him if he was being truthful. I'd also assume refs/officials would have said something by now if there was just a miscommunication. This could very well be the standard 'im not really a racist' apology video from everyone who gets caught.
L'albatros Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 we live at the height of cancel culture. i would not be surprised if his teammates were hesitant to say something

Actions have consequences, and there's plenty of evidence in that clip. He definitely gestures something at Subban, so it's just better to get out ahead of it and ruin this guy before any further information comes out. Ultimately, it's not smart to engage when thousands of people are watching, definitely all of whom are acting in good faith. Edited January 25, 2022 by Dunny
josh Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 fuck i totally forgot this is the Rangers ECHL affiliate. lol

So where does it go from here now that Panetta has come out and made that statement and effectively pleading not guilty, but in the meantime the jury (i.e. ECHL, the Icemen and even the refs on the ice) have already decided he's 100% guilty based on the evidence available on the spot. Is it going to end up with the lawyers? Edited January 25, 2022 by Karan
