John Tavares will need at least two weeks to recover from a knee injury, in addition to the concussion the forward sustained in the first period of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup First Round for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.

The knee injury is similar to the sprained MCL sustained by Toronto forward Zach Hyman on April 18, Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas said Saturday.

"It will be a minimum of two weeks on that, but obviously our primary concern is the concussion and making sure he returns to full health," Dubas said.

Tavares was cleared of all structural damage to his head, neck and spine after a CT scan and MRI on Thursday, Dubas said.

I am shocked there was no injury in one of those areas, particularly teeth/jaw from such a vicious blow to the chin.

This was a best case diagnosis probably. Good to see.

That was a very Rangers like finish for the Leafs. 2 huge 3rd period goals and then a dumb gaff in OT which ends up in their net. Still, they're far and away the better team in this series and should put this one away on Saturday.

The Leafs lost in predictable Leafs fashion. And on the 28th anniversary of "The High Stick" of all days.
