Stephen
Is Chiarelli that dumb? I guess he will give Spooner an undeserved contract that will Lead EDM further into cap hell lol
AliveIn94
I feel like we won this trade. Chytil and Andersson must be moving to wing. Sent from my Z981 using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
Gravesy
Like I said the other day, I'd trade Spooner for a 7th + a pack of peanut butter cups, so this is a win for me.
AliveIn94
Spooner has two points this season so far. Just two. Sent from my Z981 using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
Phil
Deal screams of "our problem for yours?" That said, based on how bad Spooner's been, I'd call this a temporary win.

Phil
I mean, Strome is an expensive fourth-line player today. But he has upside. Reminds me a bit of what they did with Pouliot (for a fraction of the price) years ago. If he can find a groove, they'll come out of this like gangbusters. For now, it's a small measure. siddious
I expected more out of spooner. Dudes been invisible all season. Hope Strome can surprise us Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
Phil
I love this. Cant really be any worse. Cheap aswell Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk Strome? No, he isn't. $3.1M AAV this season and next. It's not damaging, by any means, but he's not "cheap" either. He's paid about what a tweener third/fourth-liner gets.
-ERIK-
Spooner hasn't played a game all season so good trade.

ThirtyONE
Spooner sucks. Strome sucks. Case closed. Seems like each team is hoping for lightning in a bottle.

Phil
Spooner sucks. Strome sucks. Case closed. Seems like each team is hoping for lightning in a bottle. Spooner sucks a little more, though. Like, objectively. Especially in underlying numbers where he was an absolute anchor. He ranked dead last among Rangers' forwards this season in CF% (39.3) and FF% (37.9). Take what you will of shot metrics, but to be below 40% is really, really, really bad. I mean, Cody McLeod, who is universally condemned for being a shit hockey player, and who is probably getting put into street clothes thanks to this trade, had better metrics in both categories relative to Spooner. That's saying something.
Long live the King
All Strome has to do is play better than Letteiri and McLeod and this is a win.
ThirtyONE
I mean we’re siphoning corn from shit. They’re both 4th liners who likely have no future with the team unless something unexpected happens with Strome. The trade doesn’t move the needle. LindG1000
Weird deal IMO. I like it in the sense that Strome is probably....marginally...the better player, but I just don't know what this does for us besides shed some salary
Scott
we didn't shed salary because of the 900k retention.
