Need New Computer Speakers

Recommended Posts

My old Bose Companion's are no longer companions. Just companion, singular. Right speaker refuses to play. Yes, all the wires are plugged in. Yes, I unplugged and re-plugged everything, restarted, etc. Yes, the balance is centered on my computer. Pretty sure she's just dead.

All I hear about is how Bose is a rip-off, so let's hear it — what should I get? I don't want cheap shit, but I don't need a set of $400 speakers either. These are going into my office where I listen to music occasionally, but not nearly enough to warrant something over the top like that. It's why I stuck with the $100 or so Bose. I also really like the design of Bose speakers, so keep aesthetic in mind a bit.

I've always had a good experience using Logitech speakers. I personally use the Z-5500's but if you're looking for a set of stereo speakers where aesthetic's matter how about some of these:

Audio Engine's. No question about it. My friend got a pair of the a5's based on me telling him that's what the guys over at AVS forums recommend in that dept. He is in love with them. They're more like $300 though. The A2's I'm recommending you are $200 although you can bid on these babies right here and probably snag the pair with the tilt stands for $150. That's what I would do if I didn't try and find an old set of Boston Acoustics on ebay.
