According to Drew McWeeny at Hit Flix?or, rather, his anonymous source?Gordon-Levitt will ?absolutely? take on the role in the upcoming 2015 Justice League movie.

Below contains "spoilers" from The Dark Knight Rises:

The news is not that shocking. Even though the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight franchise is officially kaput, hints of Gordon-Levitt?s future were easy to see in this past summer?s The Dark Knight Rises. No, Gordon-Levitt didn?t play Bruce Wayne, but his character got a big reveal?his real first name is Robin, and he discovers the Batcave at the end of the film. The extent of Justice League?s connection to the Dark Knight universe is still unclear; a non-Wayne Batman might confuse some viewers, but it could be even more confusing to have one franchise?s Robin show up as another?s Batman.

I actually think the biggest hurdle here is size. No joke.

Look at Levitt next to Bale in the movies. He's significantly smaller, and as a result, significantly less believeable as Batman IMO, who has historically always been portrayed as a rather muscular and large super hero.

IIRC, Robin's name was never really "Robin", but Dick Grayson anyway. So the fact that JGL's name is "Robin" in the DK series really doesn't mean anything, and to add to it, Robin for a short time was Batman. There are 1,000 ways to tie up that loose end. And Phil, they might just give him booster boots. Michael KEaton is only 5-10, same height as JGL.

Very true. Never really thought of that.

Dick Grayson as Batman was pretty scrawny, luckily it never came up in any Batman movie to date.

Everyone will associate Batman with Bale because of the DK trilogy, so this was going to be a tough cast either way.

I think they are trying to capitalize off the fan interest and curiousity generated from the ending of DKR.

Good point. This could be why I really don't want to see Levitt as Batman. Really tough to cast this one out.

Drew McWeeny at Hitflix is reporting that:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in “Justice League” as the new Batman.

Along with:

They’re a long way from filming anything “Justice League” related, but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do something.

Saw a rumor that Johnny Depp may be The Joker in this film as well, what you guys think?

Any doubts as to Depp being able to excel in that role, just go watch him perform in Sweeney Todd or any of his darker roles. He could absolutely pick up where Ledger is unable to keep up.
