  1. Gerard Gallant to Philadelphia for John Tortorella
  2. I’ve told this story here before but…. I had started following the Rangers in the early 80’s as a kid in PA. I heard the taunts of “1940” from my Flyers loving friends (nevermind the fact they were all mostly born the year after their Flyers won their last Stanley Cup). I entered Basic Training at Ft. Jackson South Carolina on June 7, 1994. Didn’t have access to a tv or even a newspaper until the end of June. Missed the finals and heard about the Rangers winning on a Sunday call home (only day of the week we had phone privileges). We were finally given access to a newspaper at the end of June and I was confused about what OJ had done, had no idea about the murders or car chase. So, I missed it. When I got home in August I watched a vhs of the game, and years later my wife bought me the dvd set of the entire Eastern Conference and Stanley Cup Finals, so I’ve seen all the games, but didn’t get to experience it in the moment. I’m waiting to celebrate this team winning a cup, but this year surely doesn’t look like it.
  3. Will Chytil be here next season? I know he is an RFA but what does his next deal look like? I argued in the off-season thread that instead of going out and getting a second line center it might be better to put Chytil on the second line and then sign Evan Rodriguez to center the third line. At this point with Mika as the #1 and Trocheck #2, what is Chytil's future with this team? His ceiling is higher than a third line center if he can stay healthy for a full season and finally put together a 40+ point campaign. At this point, he is blocked by Mika and Vinnie on the depth chart. Maybe trading for Rossi brings in a young center more suited to 3rd line duty, then perhaps you move Chytil for right wing help? Or Chytil to right wing.
  4. This team is soft, no doubt about it, but to give up this many third period leads, to play down to weaker opponents, it is a culture problem. This group of players, particularly the core, have shown they can't fix this amongst themselves. They need a coach that can lead them. Gallant just says 'It's up to them to figure it out". That's bullshit. It's up to the players to play the game to the gameplan as dictated by the coach, which I don't even really see if Gallant has a plan. I harp on my kids all the time that determination is much more important to achieving success than talent. Here we have a team with tons of talent, but no determination.
  5. Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
  6. I’m imagining that at some point Drury is going to come storming into the locker room ala Joe McGrath and chew the entire team out. It seems the coaching staff surely can’t light a fire under their asses.
  7. My Hot Toddy recipe shot of bourbon hot apple cider (at least twice as much as the bourbon) squeeze of honey squeeze of half a lemon cinnamon stick After a few of these you’ll forget all about this ugliness.
  8. She said she wants it to look like a the jersey but be a hoodie.
  9. I don’t know if they had other players before, but I looked a few weeks ago and they only had what they have now. If they had a Mika they sold out awhile ago. Yeah, I might have to go with the knock off from ecrater, thanks for the link.
  10. So my daughter is a huge Mika fan but she doesn’t want a jersey, she wants a jersey style hoodie with his name on the back. Looking at Shop.NHL.com, there is a Lafreniere hoodie with the name on the back , as well as a Panarin, Gretzky, and Messier, but no Mika. I explained to her that there is not one of these Mika hoodies available, and her response was “just get the letters and numbers in the right font and have them sewn on”. Haha, easier said then done. So, my question is, where can I find a letter and number set of Mika’s in the correct font to sew on the back of the hoodie? Back in the day it would be as easy as calling Gerry Cosby, now, I don’t know what to do. Here is the hoodie in question. https://shop.nhl.com/new-york-rangers/mens-new-york-rangers-47-oatmeal-rockaway-lace-up-pullover-hoodie/t-36608559+p-4821984702488+z-9-3375511330?_ref=p-DLP:m-GRID:i-r1c0:po-3
  11. Last week when asked to predict the amount of points on the road trip I predicted Strome would get the OT game winner. After last nights first period I would have stood by that prediction, after the second and third periods I have much more faith this one will end in regulation with a Rangers win.
  12. I agree. I wonder what was said in the locker room during the first intermission? Looked so much better the last two periods.
  13. Damn right. Much improved from Saturday night defending in the last minute
  14. Definitely. Although I’m guessing you are in LA when you mentioned the LA broadcast. I’m up in the Bay Area, definitely a different vibe.
  15. Moved to CA from PA in ‘98. California people are cool, California sports fans can’t criticize their own team, it’s fucking annoying.
