  1. Just watched that one tonight. Finale maybe tomorrow. This season has been spectacular.
  2. I don’t know what that website is, but it looks like a blogger named “Jon” wrote it. There’s nothing that backs up he’s just looking for money either. Even in this write up: All I’m saying is there’s a lot of people calling him a team quitter and he just wants money. Well, he could have taken a long term contract by now for a lot of money, but he hasn’t. I think folks are a little too quick to judge hockey players who maybe don’t want to spend their entire 20s/30s in cities like Columbus and Winnipeg. I know I wouldn’t want to if I had a say in it. Especially if I was good enough that many other teams would want me.
  3. Then can you share a link, because I can't find one. Everything I've seen says the reason for wanting out was never really made public. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2196767 The GM Kekalainen even said negotiations went quick for an extension, and he didn't think it was about that: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2099914 All we have is speculation. Saying he's just about the money is just guesswork at best, unless you have something to back it up.
  4. Even though he's likely to be traded, I will still maintain that Gauthier is better than giving away for a 5th.
  5. Don’t need a bridge to get to Winnipeg. Just a plane.
  6. The expectation isn’t that he would be a long term solution. He might not even work as a 2C this year. This is not meant to be a good approach to field the best team on paper for next season as it is not the objective. The Rangers can blow their load on JT Miller or something if they want to max out the roster’s chances for next season only. The objective is to: 1) provide some form of cheaper depth to the position on a short, cheap contract 2) not blow a load of assets on a one year player 3) provide competition for Chytil for one season 4) save ample cap space for a deadline move. If neither Suter nor Chytil cut it, you can target a 2c rental. If the stars align and one of them fills that hole, you still have cap space to bolster elsewhere. 5) have cap flexibility next summer. It should be infinitely easier to tell which kids are going to command how much money and how much term after one more season. 6) I’ve mentioned this before, but the crop of UFA centers looks pretty nice next year: ROR, JT Miller, Larkin, Horvat. Maybe all of those guys won’t hit the market, but you never know. Additionally, a guy like PLD sees his price in a trade go down when he’s only got 1 year left before UFA. I’m not tied to Suter the player. In fact I have absolutely no special love for the guy. I view him as a competent player who may or may not elevate his game some more. What I’m tied to is the idea behind what bringing him in would represent. Cap and roster flexibility, when we have more $ and knowledge on the kids we have.
  7. List of NHL teams that play in states with no income tax: Florida Panthers Vegas Golden Knights Seattle Kraken Nashville Predators Given that TB’s primary objective is to dump cap without taking it back, the only one on this list that works is Seattle. No chance McDonagh waives for there. So yeah, they are asking him to take a paycut. I agree with you. If I were McD, I’d tell them to pound sand.
  8. You must be thinking Ryan Suter. Easy mistake to make
  9. Come on Chris! If you can’t get PLD, just go get Pius Suter from Detroit on the cheap and kick the can down the road one more season. Make all the big long term moves next summer instead. Larry, I know you read these boards. Put a little sweat into it and make an article about some cheaper “under the radar” stop gap options like Suter. Come on man.
  10. Not to mention Twitter bots like this Phil Kocher account perpetuating it.
  11. No, he'd probably generate 2 breakaways in on Shesterkin and score on both of them.
  12. Guy had an incredible 3 months and is getting PAID. Good for him, but this has potential to sour quickly.
  13. Bump just for you @The Dude. If Drury starts looking at centers who will go short on term, Domi may be an option. I didn't like him as a deadline target to make a run, but I'd consider him a good option on a 1 year deal. He still has good potential and can compete with Chytil for the 2C spot. He's also a bit of a dick, which adds some spice to the lineup. Decent production last year with 39 points in 72 games last year. He's shown he's capable of a lot more in the past. I'd look for him to revive that production playing with Panarin. At the very least, he might be a good guy to serve as [beatable] competition for Chytil to earn the 2C spot if the Rangers go the cheaper/internal route for trying to fill it.
  14. Assuming the only move is clearing Nemeth's cap hit, the Rangers in a best case scenario have somewhere in the vicinity of $6.5-7M maximum to spend on a center this year. More realistically, that number is closer to $5-5.5 so they have a little more wiggle room on a halfway decent backup goalie and 4th line improvements.
  15. Latest from Staple... Some click-bait? Kakko AND Chytil in a package deal...for Scheifele or Larkin? If only one is dealt for a center upgrade, it's likely to be Chytil: So Chytil is likely worth more on the market than Kakko. Not surprising. He's a better player...and a center. Chytil or Kakko packaged with Lundkvist for JT Miller? The options are plentiful. Going to come down to Drury's preferences along with what potential contract extensions look like. 16. If Pittsburgh is lowballing or under-appreciating him after all these years, spite could potentially come into play. FWIW, I think Malkin is an ideal target to play with Panarin. I just don't see it happening for so many reasons that it hasn't been worth thinking about compared to all the other options.
  17. Yes, Kakko is really good at possessing the puck and using his size to do it, similarly to that part of Jagr's game. Except of course Jagr had speed and loads more skill lol
  18. So many times I've watched Kakko not pursue a puck hard enough if it meant contact. He actively avoids contact. No doubt that's why he got benched, even if he has other positives in his game. Unfortunately that is probably who he is. 42 hits in 157 career games. He's got a big boy's body, but wants to be a finesse player.
  19. I mean 33 goals and 85 points is better than half-decent. It's an excellent season. It's just...will he do it again? 7 years at $8M per is a massive gamble that it is repeatable over and over again.
  20. Larry breaking ranks with the board: https://nypost.com/2022/06/29/rangers-must-avoid-pierre-luc-dubois-trade-that-includes-filip-chytil/?utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_medium=SocialFlow You sold me Larry! They can have slow Kakko instead! LOL
