I don’t know man. Might be better if he’s worked in as a fan nice and slow before exposing him to us vile creatures on here. -
Playoffs Rangers-Hurricanes Round Two — General Series Thread

I guess @CanesFanRandy did not want show up again and wish us good luck or talk about the well fought series. I’m thinking he was just being passive aggressive popping in here to begin with. Probably didn’t think the Canes could lose. -
I’m not sure what you mean. Why are they applicable in any capacity what the team Corsi was between October-December when determining whether they might have playoff success? When we look at the full 82 game sample size, that might account for close to half of the full season picture which is what is being used by stat nerds to predict playoff matchups. Yet the team is very clearly much different than back then. Wouldn’t the more accurate way to predict playoff performance be to look at more recent slices of data? How’s the team been playing last couple of months? What’s their strength of schedule looked like? Etc.

Yeah, but a team in November ain’t the same as a team come March. The stats might no longer apply. Full season stats become worthless. They aren’t applying them correctly.

Shots were 25-22 Rangers after 2. They went up 3 within the first minute of the 3rd and 4 within the first 6 minutes. Tampa put up 17 shots in the 3rd…13 of which came after the Rangers went up 4. Basically the Rangers took it easy and TB still couldn’t score. I know he posts these graphics after every game….but this one doesn’t mean much. It’s also kind of hard to give a shit about fancy stats right now.

A prime example of one of those flashes is that move he put on Brendan Smith in G6 last series, where he had the puck and used his body to hip-bump Smith away to create separation, then took it towards the net and scored the backhand goal. That strong hip-bump and shielding the puck is nothing new for Chytil. It’s always been there and it’s the kind of thing I’ve always noted as “this kid has it in him - he’s big and strong”. He’s also fast. The finishing ability has been missing, apparently until now. Ironically, you know who has the same traits? The other whipping boy amongst the fan base - Gauthier. But for now there is simply no room at the inn for him.
