  1. Oh, probably. Details like that with Chicago I didn't really know or remember. He got in his own way pretty much every where.
  2. lol True. Also Crosby getting injured. Actually they've been fortunate with injuries for quite awhile now. There's been nothing too serious.
  3. It wouldn't surprise me. lol Too bad that happened though. Too much bad blood there during a championship season. Then after the Rangers win the Cup, there was the lockout which pretty much destroyed the momentum the league had from it.
  4. As he should. Wasn't he tampering with St. Louis during the playoffs? lol Obviously he has a legacy here just because of that one season, but imagine how grander it could have been for him if he stayed?
  5. As much as I hated trading Amonte and Weight, the Gartner deal was definitely the most unnecessary at the time. Keenan gonna Keenan.
  6. Yeah, not going to happen. When Lundqvist was signed, you're happy about it, but also know the last two or three years will probably not be good, especially when the cap hit was $8.5 million or whatever it was. It might depend on how Garand develops regarding how they look at Igor's next contract.
  7. Two more, yeah. It probably would have been three if there was no lockout in 1994.
  8. Igor will be 28 in December. Lundqvist was 31 or 32 when he signed that mega deal.
  9. Yeah and it's a bit better to buy out if need be and more moveable too if it comes to that as well. I think Trouba is okay overall, just mostly overpaid by 2 or 3 million. I think if he maybe focused more on defense, he would be better off. He may think he's a better offensive defenseman than he really is.
  10. I will never not be mad that Gartner wasn't here for the Cup. One of my favorite players, and he should have been here for it.
  11. Vets stepping back a bit is expected. The young players not delivering was far less expected and absolutely devastating for the franchise.
  12. As much as I hate Trouba's contract, I think I'd rather have that over Horvat even though I like Bo as a player.
  13. Rizzo's decline was quite alarming. He looked great early and has just nose dived. No home runs in over 40 games or something like that. At least Donaldson is probably out for the year now and his contract is done at the end of the season. So, that's one that will be gone.
  14. To be fair the Rangers have been pretty good about not doing that for quite awhile. They did it with Kane this year, but it was no kind of a no-brainer deal that didn't really cost them anything or block the development of anything. It's not like the younger players were seeing much PP time anyway. lol Other than that, it's been Martin St. Louis and that's been kind of it as far as 'big names' go.
  15. Yeah, I mean the Rangers aren't the only team to empty the cupboard trying to win. A lot of times those 'win now' deals don't work, and they happened to in 1994. It just cost them big time in the long run as far as more sustained success. Hard to argue since they won it all, but they just bottomed out there in the late 90's after some good teams afterwards from 1994-1997.
  16. I think Laf can still be really good and a fantastic player, I just think we're seeing he's not going to be a superstar you're hoping a top pick is or can be.
  17. Yes. A lot can happen in two years with the cap and the roster in general.
  18. It's been that way since about 2020 or so and it's bottom of the barrel right now. They decided to just run the same crap back this year, except everyone is older. I think the most concerning is Stanton. His power is going, and if he doesn't have that, he's completely useless. He doesn't hit for average, doesn't get on base, doesn't field and is rarely fully healthy. I think he has six or seven more years left on his deal. Disaster.
  19. I'm 50/50 on Shesterkin still being here after his two years are up. Hopefully for the Rangers sake Garrand or someone can come in and be the next guy. If that doesn't happen, they might have a more balanced four lines, but then have no goaltending. lol
  20. Yeah, and the perfect game was fun too, so they have that. lol What's concerning is all of those guys you mentioned just look completely washed and a few of them are going to be back next year still.
  21. Would we have been even more upset if we wound up with Byfield instead of Lafreniere? Still very young too, but he hasn't looked that great.
