Nightmare season for the Mets but I think they did alright for themselves here. They restocked their barren farm a bit and freed up a ton of money for the offseason. Maybe trading Alonso at some point isn't out of the realm of possibility? I think they're bringing in Stearns of Milwaukee at some point to help the farm even further. The Lindor and Nimmo contracts aren't great, though.

Report David Krejci to Announce Retirement 'Very Soon'
Sharpshooter replied to Phil's topic in Hockey Around the Globe
Kind of meant yes, basically, okay? lol All of this makes this past postseason worse for them. No more super team now. -
Ducks Re-sign Troy Terry to 7-year/$49m Extension; $7m AAV
Sharpshooter replied to Phil's topic in Hockey Around the Globe
I think it's worth it. He's excellent and the Ducks need to retain their young talent. If I was a fan, I'd still be pissed they missed out on Bedard. lol -
Report David Krejci to Announce Retirement 'Very Soon'

Between this and Bergeron retiring, kind of an end of era in Boston (well partly), except for Marchand. -
Sens Sign Vladimir Tarasenko to 1-year/$5m Deal
Sharpshooter replied to Phil's topic in Hockey Around the Globe
Yeah, I was going to say this is probably a one-year stop gap before he comes back in another year when the cap situation is a bit better. -
Patrice Bergeron Announces Retirement

One Bruins player I can respect. Great player and always liked his overall game. Happy trails. -
If they miss the playoffs entirely, we have bigger problems. lol At that point you're considering dumping guys let alone calling it an epic failure. To me, this is still a really good team that has had no direction for several years and should be going further than they did last year. If you want to say the prior season was mostly luck, you aren't wrong, but they created their own luck. Last year was just a total meltdown and a gutless effort.

Please don't go to Pittsburgh. lol Actually him winding up back with the Senators would be wild. Maybe he winds up with the Kraken? That would be a huge get for that franchise still early in its existence.

This is the best coaching staff they've had since the Torts years. There are no excuses for anyone now. Having said that, the jury is still out because this is the first real coach this group has had. It's been two years of Gallant and three years of Quinn prior to that. Not great. Basically all of the flaws that have been behind the bench have been rectified. Now it's time to execute. Considering how all of the players were literally begging for help in the post season meetings, I think they're ready.

FX 'Sons of Anarchy' Spin-off, 'Mayans MC' on FX
Sharpshooter replied to Phil's topic in TV, Music, & Movies
Not yet. I will, though. I was actually just waiting for the series to finish entirely before starting. So, I will soon. -
Yeah, and it's just really hard to win in general. Most teams don't really win or go through long stretches without winning anything. Toronto is what, 55 years now? Not only that, they haven't even sniffed a Stanley Cup Final berth since '67! Detroit had a great, long period of sustained success, but prior to that, they were a joke for 25-30 years.
