Didn’t even know I was going to the game until 5 pm. Damn glad I went. Domination! Waste really hoping Miller would get the Hat Trick!

We talked about cutting the cord last year, but my wife & I watch a lot of sports. We’re Rangers fans but I’m a Yankee fan & she likes the Mets. So basically, the best price we could find to get all 3 of those, and some other cable channels, was DIRECTV. They offer a package that includes MSG, YES Network, and SNY, and basically most of the networks that we watch. The cost is $90 a month. Just the cost of these 3 paid apps, when they are ultimately available, would come close to that anyway. Plus, I can watch just about every channel on the DTV app on my phone and it comes in a whole lot better than the MSG app.

It’s just released by the Rangers: New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has acquired forward Vladimir Tarasenko and defenseman Niko Mikkola in exchange for a conditional first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Sammy Blais and Hunter Skinner.

Several weeks back, I thought I read that no defenseman had ever won the Norris Trophy without his team making playoffs. But none of the articles I read today mentioned that. Does anybody know if that was true?

Out at Splish Splash with my kid & his friends. Didn’t have my phone on me most the day. Just got it out to check to see if there was any news & my wife called & said we got Panarin. What an off-season!!! (By the way, it’s great to have a wife that loves the Rangers.)

Great trade

I was so amped up & superstitious that I had to watch the game alone. I was single at the time and sat in my apartment in my favorite chair. I was wearing my Messier jersey & my favorite Rangers hat was up on the shelf exactly wear it needed to be. Sitting in my humidor was an expensive cigar that would not be touched or even looked at until the Rangers won the Stanley Cup. Vodka with a splash of 7 was the beverage of choice. I was as tense as I could be. As the 3rd period was winding down to the final seconds, I stood & screamed at the tv. When Zelepukin scored, I let rip every curse word I could think of. In that moment, it almost felt like we had lost the game. How the hell could this happen with 7.7 seconds left??? Oh... because these are the Rangers! I finally gathered control of my emotions & sat down to watch the agonizing overtimes. When Matteau scored, I lost my mind. Such a great feeling. I walked down to the bar & the owner, a big Ranger fan, saw me walk in & poured me a drink. When the Rangers finally won the Cup, I walked into the same bar right after the game. This time the owner of the bar poured me a drink and lit a match for my cigar. A magical year.

I still think they take Hughes but a little interesting that the Devils tweeted this after seeing the Kakko goal.
