So Why Are We Winning? Same Channel, Different Season?
Valriera replied to Valriera's topic in New York Rangers
Very different team than the last three years mainly around defense in our own zone which, let's be honest, was the only real adjustment Gallant needed to actually make and never did. We won most of the year on top of below league average goaltending because of that But if the spirit is "not much has changed" then you're right, but I don't think much needed to change except defense and attitude. -

The team sucks at 5v5 and is tops at literally everything else. thanks I’ll take it -
Love to see the passion at the end there even in a basically meaningless game standings wise. From Laf too. You’re first in the league and you’re losing a close one to a desperate team and you get taken advantage of. Fuck yeah have a go at the referee. All for it. Shows you give a shit which is more than I can say about the team from years prior. Love it.

What Playoff Superstitious Are We Rocking This Year?
Valriera replied to Keirik's topic in New York Rangers
I went to my first playoff game when we lost to the lightning at Home in game 7 of the conference final some ten years ago. I will continue not going to any of the games for you guys -
Playoffs — Who Do You Want/Don't You Want?
Valriera replied to Kick save and a beauty's topic in New York Rangers
Now that we’re closer I’d really like to win the conference and avoid Tampa. There’s a substantial gulf between them and whomever is in the last WC and it really might matter this year given how good everyone is -
The last time something like this happened it went to the top point getter but that’s a red herring: that player was lemieux and he only played 60 something games that year at 160pts. By this logic it is mcdavid who will win. i have no fucking idea what will happen lol

I think if you look at the point totals sure, those three are obvious but it’s not the scoring race and there are not frequently so many roughly 120 point scorers in one season. It hasn’t happened in thirty years. So to me we are past the point of looking at how many points did a player have at 120. If you already have 120million dollars, 140 just doesn’t matter that much. That’s where we are, in my opinion at least

Look I’ve made the argument for the other guys before. Mackinnon, Kuch, McDavid are all having astronomical seasons. Panarin is in fourth place not that far behind and has been similarly dominant to those four this year. Yes, it’s a roughly 20 pt gap but that’s just gravy here. All four of these players have dominated almost every shift this year. It’s not the scoring title, it’s the MVP. All four of these teams are in the playoffs and likely don’t make it without the player. The difference? The rangers are the only one of those teams in position to win the league which they certainly do not do without panarin. Typically it’s the “in it to win it” argument but in this case you have four candidates whose teams are all in it and who are all having similarly celestial seasons. Only one team is on track to win the league and in my opinion, given the impact of these four players is relatively equal, that’s enough to sway me. Panarin has swayed my vote for the hart and it’s really really close

Well I feel silly but both 50 and jagr’s record are within reach still. It’s either the best or second best all time season for a ranger.
