  1. Air Travel in Real Life is also dead on
  2. They way I read that is you make Panarin that guy, and buy out Hank at full freight. Much better flexibility over the next 5 years
  3. You have 3 goalies.. 2 of them "young" 1 of them comes in late and takes the #1 job.. Rendering the split in the beginning of the season null. I don't see it as "disrespect" having the 38 year old goalie with the 3rd best numbers on the season sitting on the bench.. It makes even more sense when you get the opportunity to see what you have with the 24 year old goalie. You know what you have with #30, it makes no sense not to have #40 be the second keeper- especially when there may be some trade value to potentially grow. If Hank were to start bitching about it publicly, its a real story.. Right now, in my mind, this is nothing more than the proper management of a hockey roster.
  4. You are 100% correct. In the grand scheme of things, what anyone not named Lias Anderson experiences doesn't mean shit for the purposes of this conversation. People hit their strides at different ages, regardless of profession- I'm more worried about his lack of evidenced skill than I am him being a brat in this scenario.. you can grow up and out of the brat stage, not sure the skill will ever be there.
  5. I'd be curious what percentage of the posters here were on their own at 21, working in their career of choice? People mature at different rates. I see far too many 21, hell 31 year olds who still need to grow up. Kid may very well be a flop because his skill set was completely overestimated.. But a 21 year old acting like an idiot isn't exactly a news flash.
  6. I moved to Charlotte from NJ to go to college ages ago. The city is so much bigger than it was when I moved here in 92, I got hooked on the weather, the job market, and the pace of life. I'd have to get paid a truck load of money to move back to the Tri State area- I love to visit and all that it has to offer, but I can't imagine being there 365 days a year.
  7. That's been collectively bargained. NFL Does it too, but its an understood and bargained process. Hard to throw that in without having an agreed upon process. If the NHL were to add, it would have to limit it to pending UFA's..
  8. If I had to pick one Moment- The smile on Zib's face about half a second before he gets mobbed after his 5th goal. That's the good shit right there. It's why players play and why fans cheer.
  9. I don?t think I?m being hyperbolic at all when I say Zib and Bread are two of the top 10 players in the league.
  10. Still a big point. I’ll take it. Can still get 5 of 6 on this trip (assuming it finishes)
  11. I wonder if he's still not worth two 2nd round picks?
  12. I read that and my main take away was the tow biggest named "fallers" are the only one who have spent the year playing against the best players in the world.
  13. They played a very strong 1st 50 minutes.. the last 10 were a bit wobbly, but at the end of the day- who gives a shit! 2 very important points down, 4 more to go
  14. By in large, NHL players never fail to amaze when it comes to the sheer will to get back on the ice.
  15. This is my favorite Game Day thread title so far this year.
  16. I'm thinking we probably need 4 points out of this trip to stay in the mix. Its a tall order, but its going to take some impressive hockey to get in.
  17. I agree on the value of the Athletic. I spend money on lots of dumb shit over the course of a year, the 60 bucks I pay here is one of the few things I actually get my moneys worth... And for new subscribers, they run discounted promos all the time.
  18. I agree on the Athletic article- I just don't think school is where he wants to be (and that is in no way an indictment of the kid- I don't actually blame him). Additionally, I don't think you can take anything from his season, Wisconsin was a shitshow all year. Get him on the books as a PTO for the remainder of 2020, let him play an entire season in Hartford and reassess in camp in 2021.
  19. This is good news.. Continuity has value, and this leadership team from JD down seems to be getting the job done, and doing it with pace.. Gorton (whose only failing was not being the first GM in the history of sport to bat 1000) and Drury are both being rightly rewarded for a job well done, despite their shit stinking like most humans.
  20. Dreadful effort. With so much on the line, that garbage was inexcusable.
