  1. The 2022 FIFA World Cup bid for the USA had already selected venues to compete for the 8-10 positions. They rejected quite a few, including Ford Field and Soldier Field, but here's the list that made it: Rose Bowl, LA Memorial Coliseum, Cottow Bowl, Fedex Field, Cowboys Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Sun Life Stadium, Reliant Stadium, Arrowhead, Mile High, Raymond James Stadium, Gillette Stadium, Husky Stadium, University of Phoenix Stadium, Georgia Dome, M&T Bank Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, LP Field, CenturyLink Field, Qualcomm Stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium. So pick your 8-10 from that.
  2. Yeah, it would be amazing if she could be in that Holland Beker race. All my friends would be able to be there and she would race against the current Olympic champion, who is probably going to whoop her butt for now, but I'm just really proud she's being considered for these world class events. It's kind of like a tennis player qualifying for a grand slam, you know? You don't have to win for it to be awesome.
  3. Have a great time, man. Should be a lot of fun.
  4. Fucking legendary stuff this week. A buddy of mine is a former pro soccer player who quit after injuries and his business picking up. Recently he joined a team of other young guys, who just play for fun, but who are all legitimate former talents from big league teams. So, they practice once a week, drink beer three times a week and now they've unexpectedly promoted to the "3rd Class League", which is 6th national level. Absolutely hysterical and everyone in their league is soooo mad right now.
  5. It's looking pretty likely that Grace will be flying to Europe for the rest of the month this upcoming week. It's a bit of a last minute thing, but chances are she gets to race for her club at two of the biggest rowing events in the world. The Holland Beker in Amsterdam and (second year in a row) Royal Henley near London. There's always a chance stuff falls through, but I'm excited.
  6. The exact kind of little hint this thread should not contain. That's not "spoiler police", by the way, RobertG. It's enforcing on a courtesy to the television viewers who don't want to watch the show with any preconceived ideas, because the shock and surprise factor is the major selling point of this show.
  7. So you are saying Klinnsmann is that bad?
  8. Yeah, apparently George R.R. Martin is now banned from Twitter. They're afraid he will kill more than 140 characters.
  9. Hahahahaha. Best sports debate confession ever.
  10. I don't think you'll find many Europeans who follow the US soccer team and support and defend soccer in the US the way I do, but Twitter and Facebook were full off people actually suggesting that this game proved that the loss against Belgium was a fluke and that US soccer is capable of playing with the better European nations now. I don't believe that's quite true and I was just suggesting that I hope people are able to properly assess the value of this win. And yes, I said it a little mocking. Sorry 'bout that. Habit when talking soccer... ;) I want it to do wonders for their confidence, because a World Cup without the US would be less fun and one of my fellow writers at a Dutch sports magazine is the US soccer watcher for Fox Soccer and it would be great for him to follow them to the World Cup in 2014. It wasn't a jab at the team, although I can see how it came across that way, but I honestly wish the USMNT the very best over the next couple of months. If only because I root for the sport of soccer to become a lot bigger than it is now in the US. Sidenote: the world ranking is a bit of a skewed system. Despite losing in the 2010 World Cup Final to Spain, The Netherlands was ranked #1 for a while, because they scored more goals against really weak opponents in the qualification round. At that time I could list at least three countries who would win a best-of-3 against that squad.
  11. Not a lot, but suggestions as "you will start to like so and so before you know it" are spoilers as well. So comments like that should not be posted.
  12. Folks, please remain very careful in what you write and say in this thread. We have had to delete several comments hinting on future events and character twists that television viewers have not been made aware of and those are serious spoilers. If you have read the books, please come here strictly to laugh at viewers reactions and to clarify current and past events in the show or how they have been portrayed. We can not tolerate any further spoilers, whether accidental or not.
  13. I always felt as if the Starks were a lot better than the Lannisters. They were the rebellion. Pretty much the only one. I guess my rooting interest is now Tyrion being awesome and Daenerys making stuff happen.
  14. Maisie Williams responded on Vine to the whole outrage: https://vine.co/v/b3XZMHmxzxh
  15. Yeah, Theon has his hands in her pants in season 2 before she informs him she's his sister. It was pretty memorable, guys. I also wanted to say that I have mad respect for HBO. So far I just thought they struck gold signing up on a great fantasy series, but if the team knows what they are selling and HBO does too, than it takes big balls to air stuff like this. I am not sure how many people are so mad and upset, that they'll just stop watching now. I have a lot of friends who just absolute lost it and say they aren't sure they can handle a show that offers virtually no happiness that isn't crushed to a stomping, maddening death within two episodes at best. I mean, I love that, but this breaks some golden rules of television and that's just so, so cool.
  16. The initial season was coined as Starks versus Lannisters and he was still King of the North. "I'm not watching this show anymore."
  17. That's glorious. I was not like that. I think. EDIT: Wow. I feel increasingly bad for some people. If you really had noooooooo clue. At least, I knew it would be bad.
