  1. The whole Theon thing is so fucking weird. Loved the scene between Melisandre and Arya, but I just can't get over Melisandre's stupid Dutch accent. It bugs me, because it's not beautiful or foreign to me, it sounds like every other Dutchmen speaking English. Ugh. Also :rofl::rofl: at #StamkosStark. :D
  2. He's been working hard this season. Very active with his back to the goal, laying off passes and finishing off a lot of chances.
  3. AZ is middle of the pack in the Eredivisie (league above First Division) and Altidore is first American to score 30 in a European season. He's been incredible this year and AZ is anticipating he will be bought this summer.
  4. Championship for Dutch First Division is determined today, including playoff ranking. Fortuna can get 6th, which means they play team that got 9th, which would be great. Also, the championship is down to two teams, of which one has a two point lead and likely need a tie to win it. Goal differential (first tie-breaker) is much better for team now in lead. Fortuna Sittard is playing MVV Maastricht... which is weird game for me. I'm from Maastricht, my whole family is, but no one is a soccer fan, except for my dad, but he's from the town Fortuna was originally from (they merged and moved with a team 10 miles away). So I was always a Fortuna fan, despite spending a lot of my time in the rivals town. Always lived in a burb in between Sittard and Maastricht, which are only 10 miles away from each other. In hockey analogy: it's as if Rangers and Islanders merged, I was from New Jersey, but cheered for that merger team years later. LOL.
  5. I'm starting to dislike people I loved and love people I hated more and more. This show is confusing.
  6. How old is Margaery in the books? Because to my surprise, the actress who plays her is actually in her early 30s. Wow.
  7. I think every woman loves Daenerys. The independent girl who doesn't take shit from anyone. It's basically Beyonce with dragons, you know.
  8. FORTUNA SITTARD IS IN THE PLAYOFFS! http://i.imgur.com/2B7XRGM.jpg It's going to be a near impossible task to actually promote to the Eredivisie, but surviving the first round is within reach and chances are they'll play a rival from our province either way when they make it past that round. That's would be so fucking amazing if that happened. For now, last night's win was the biggest game in over 10 years. They relegated back in 2002 and have not made a promotional playoff since. To finally be there after everything that has happened in that decade, is almost like a championship and two of our best players are probably leaving as free agents, but the amazing goaltender we've found and the three top scorers (about 25 goals and 20 assists between them) all have just signed extensions for next year. I hope our biggest talents will stay, that the left-back we've developed gets kept aboard by a sponsor willing to pay up big cash to keep him, but if he doesn't, fuck him, we've survived all those journeymen and quitters and we are still here. Either you want to play for us, or you can get lost. Anyway, proud day. Playoffs start in two weeks, one more regular season game left on Friday, which will determine who we play first and which bracket we'll be in.
  9. I keep watching the Daenerys scene over and over again. It is incredible. Top 5 moment across all episodes so far.
  10. The only thing I like about Heineken is how familiar the taste is. It's a little bland, not very good, but wherever in the world you are, a Heineken is a Heineken and if you know nothing on the menu, than at least Heineken tastes like home. Beyond that, there are so many better American (micro-)breweries nowadays and I'd even say a Yuengling, Molson or Sam Adams is better than Heineken any day of the week.

  12. People who call Heineken a good beer are misguided, but I have to admit that Heineken's brewer tour and beer experience in downtown Amsterdam is among the best tourist attractions and bars you could ever experience anywhere. What the beer lacks in taste, they make up for in marketing and entertainment. I'll give 'em that.

  14. Home bittersweet home... at least we've set big wheels in motion this week.
  15. Off to bed I go. Short night sleep, so I'll be plenty tired on my eight hour flight tomorrow. It's crazy feeling that tomorrow morning I'll wake up in my own bed, make my usual coffee, will hop in the car, hop on a plan, hope off the plan, fist bump with Mr. Smith and Tonybologna, drive to MSG and see the Rangers take on the Panthers. Only risk is a massive delay on my flight, but that's not likely. :)
  16. A pretty big regional newspaper wrote a wonderful memorial article on my late friends sports career and life. He was in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, CA, despite growing up in relative poverty in a very small town in the middle of the woods in southern Germany. He was such an inspiration, such a great friend and he lived a life to be jealous of. I will miss him a lot. Google translate makes the article pretty readable, for those of you interested: Siegfried Weiss: from farm kid to Olympian http://i.imgur.com/6U82Gb5.jpg (My friend is on the left.) More: http://www.badische-zeitung.de/wintersport-1/siegfried-weiss-einer-der-erfolgreichsten-schwarzwaelder-skilanglaeufer-ist-tot--70052257.html --- I'll miss him so much, but I'm very grateful he was in my life for such a long time. He taught me many valuable lessons and shared many amazing stories from his sports career.
  17. I could not be happier for you. Well-deserved, man!
  18. I'm sorry for your loss, Parsley. I know just how you feel. :( Last night the man I saw as my (only) grandfather passed away as well. I never knew my actual grandfathers and he really took that role, because of the amount of time I got to spend with him growing up. He was a family friend, not actual family, but my life and youth were shaped by the many months I got to enjoy on his farm in the south of Germany. He had been battling cancer for three years now, so we knew it was coming, but still so difficult to accept. We've been contemplating going to his funeral all day, but it's a 400 mile drive and we've spoken to his children and they suggested not visiting the funeral, but visiting all of them in a few weeks from now. There's nothing we can do for him anymore and there's more we can do for them if we visit next month. It's hard though. It feels awful to skip someone's funeral, when there's a minor chance you can make it in time.
  19. Nothing wrong with you. There are so many different aspects to love, that it's never "wrong", unless you stalk someone. I'd say, try to get the new lady back. It wasn't about another love, but nothing healed my heart better than to be in a relationship that felt good and helped my along the way to get back to where I was. Besides that, cousin is right: women. Always something, ey? :D
  20. Master thesis currently being checked by my professor, two more weeks until I fly to the US for a few weeks of unwinding, and my internship doesn't start until next week. Holy shit, a day off. Hello my lovely day off. I forgot what you feel like. This is great. Is this what vacation feels like when you grow up?
  21. Was it the ban or something you saw on 9gag?
