  1. So Rempe doesn't start and the Rangers lose game one and Laviolette has to deal with that pressure now also. The easy answer is start Rempe and then if he creates conditions where you want Chytil instead you dress Chytil instead. This team looks different when Rempe is playing.
  2. 18-2-1. Even Laviolette is going to have to look at that set of numbers and wonder if he can bench Rempe and still win.
  3. The Rangers are going to have to spend whatever they need to spend to keep Igor. He's the reason they can play half-assed at 5v5 and still win.
  4. The Rangers are going to win as long as they win the battle at 5v5. We'll see if they are capable of that.
  5. The Rangers are deep right now and relatively healthy. I think Carolina is going to have some problems trying to maintain their pace.
  6. Kreider is a very unusual player. The other guys on the list above were headed to the Hall of Fame before they hit 30. Kreider was headed to running a string of muffler shops after retirement.
  7. Sipowicz was such a great character. Dennis Franz also played two similar characters on Hill Street Blues before NYPD Blue was created. They killed off his first character and then wrote him in on another one.
  8. The tweet is at 8:06pm. Feels like a few minutes after Kakko actually scored the 1st goal :57 seconds into the game.
  9. Rangers are 18-2-1 with Rempe in the lineup. It would take enormous sandstone balls to sit him right now.
  10. The truth is that Ovechkin just looked old for most of the series, maybe all of it. He was a glimpse into the problems we might have had if Wheeler and Bonino were sill around, albeit obviously a much better player.
  11. Kakko seems to be bulking up and not in a bad way. Dude is 6'2'-ish and 210 already. If had adds 15 pounds of muscle he is going to be a handful.
  12. I'm worried about somebody becoming a team of destiny over the next two rounds and the Rangers having to deal with that after it happens. Florida, VGK, Vancouver, Edmonton. That's kind of my hierarchy of teams that could go to destined status and force us to fight through that one grind at a time.
  13. Much less scary when I was pulling the cap to the side as I opened the bottle. The problem with unscrewing a highly pressurized cap is that it can blow at any moment.
  14. Yes, I remember doing that too. It's the locking aspect of the caps and the ease of removal that made the bottles good as fermentation containers. I also tried using glass bottles with screw caps and those had a tendency for the cap to become a projectile as I opened them.
  15. I very much doubt that McDavid will still be McJesus at 30 years of age. Physiology is mostly fixed over time and 1/10 of your lifespan to date is a large interval for negative physiological factors to set in.
  16. Rempe let Kreider win. There are precious few 21 year olds on earth who will lose to an old man at Halo.
  17. I used to keep those bottles and use them to ferment experimental alcohol in my 20's. I finally food poisoned myself something terrible off of a raisin/date liqueur and thus ended the experimentation. Took me years to get to that near fatal result (ok, I wasn't actually dying, just looking at it as a preferential outcome.)
  18. McDavid is the best player in the NHL. I would put Makar and McKinnon on the next rung.
  19. The best early drunks of my life were at Teacher's Two down on Broadway on 85th St. Bloody Mary's, Eggs Benedict, hash browns to keep everything stable. Then we had a blizzard in '93 or '94 that shut NYC down and Teacher's Two managed to have a fire that wiped the place out at exactly the time that the fire department could not respond. So sad. Edit: was 1996 and Teacher's Too.
