  1. If Strome comes close to duplicating his after acquisition performance last season with the Rangers he’s money in the bank at the trade deadline..
  2. Sorry boys my bad on my post. Correction the year after Chytil was drafted he should have been in Junior hockey, last year Hartford, this year hopefully a more mature grown up kid and hockey player. Being 11 months in age behind Andersson and others in his draft group is huge. Two years ago when he started in the Check league, then the Rangers got him out of there, then Hartford, then the World Juniors, then some more Hartford and NHL games, was IMO a moronic exercise in how not to develop a kid, bouncing him around like a yoyo, when they could have put him in a challenging stable environment like maybe London playing for Dale Hunter. There's a lot to be learned at that age playing junior hockey, hopefully being a team cornerstone player 25 minutes a night, special teams regular, faceoff go to guy ect. ect. Guaranteed he would have learned lots. Sure he scored 31 AHL points in 46 games, in that first season, but that's supposedly his game. Did the rest of his game develop? Doesn't appear to have. Now its like his entire game and psyche is suffering, which I think goes back to his bungled handling his first year and even last year spending most of the season in the NHL, always struggling never a solid piece. The kids got the physical goods evident as can be watching him, but his head just isn't there yet. If the Rangers harbour hopes he's a center he needs 25 minutes a night in Hartford, play in all situations, and more importantly succeed in all those situations, not just mediocre scoring. Or the way they do things they will keep him as a wing and and 4 months from now wonder why he is struggling when they put him at center. .
  3. The Rangers jumped the gun with Chytil last year keeping him at the start of the season. It cost him valuable development time in a lower league, where he should have been all year. He would have been better off in Canadian Major Junior last year and the AHL this year and still been right on development track. He’s 11 months younger than Andersson drafted in the same draft. So he’s a year behind in development time compared to Andersson. Many kids have great tools like Chytil but need to mature, which Chytil needs. Put him in Hartford and check on him at Christmas, don’t use him like a yo-yo and I bet you see a guy ready in the New Year.
  4. Strome even at mediocre is the logical choice for second center. There is little doubt he is not any kind of long term solution. But for now it takes the pressure off kids. Howden and Andersson at this point are both better suited in a third line role, and one will end up fourth. Although Quinn will probably have two third lines instead of a traditional fourth. Let their NHL game grow a bit more. If Andersson continues his transformation, down the road you could be looking at a center capable of playing a two hole and for sure a real strong third guy. That's assuming he keeps his head screwed on straight and continues his maturation, which is the reason for the jump in his game. As a fan you have to really like what he's done so far.
  5. It comes down to Strome or Namestnikov stays the other goes, probably sooner rather than later. Unless Chytil, and or Andersson and or Kravstov gets sent to Hartford. Then they might keep both out of necessity. McKegg has also shown he's a cheaper bottom six piece which adds another to the mix, further weighing on the keep Namestnikov and or Strome conversation and their potential need. Personally I don't think Strome the Rangers default second line center is going anywhere. Chytil hasn't shown any ability or even interest by way of work ethic in the job, and at this point is questionable to make the team, and Namestnikov and Strome are abely replaced by Mckegg on a bottom two line, so one Strome is number two center, Namestnikov goes. Decisions on guys like Kravstov, are why Quinn and company get the big bucks. The good news is the Rangers have options and in particular can send him to Hartford for lots of ice, a scoring role, and likely a til christmas type stay.I think Kravstov would be fine locked in on a third line role but he's in tough at this point in time.
  6. Chytils battle is to make the team, 2nd center is a little unrealistic at this point.
  7. Rangers need Chytil and Andersson to establish themselves as dependable. Don’t have to light it up offensively just yet, but do have to be reliable defensively, as their offence evolves. Watching Andersson it’s like someone sat him down this summer and convinced him his scrumming after every whistle wasn’t scaring anyone and he should just play. I like his on ice prescence a lot more this year than last year. He still has it to do but I see glimmers of hope this preseason. What a rebuild bonus if both can establish themselves as dependable middle six forwards.
  8. No time like the present to indoctrinate the young fellas into how important it is to kick the shit out of the Pilses.
  9. He?s going to be fun to watch. I like the Jagr comparison in the sense they both have the ability to own the puck.
  10. Ok now I?m pissed. :wtf: my bad third game lol, but still a weak lineup. Will worry when all the pieces are in place.
  11. It’s the second game, I’ll be a little more worried if puck possession, physicality, compete level, and group defence doesn’t pick up after another couple of games. 1/2 to 2/3rds of these guys are on a bus to Hartford anytime soon.
  12. It’s not often if you asked a 100 people to use one word to describe a player all 100 would say warrior. He was. Enjoy the fishing Dan.
  13. The good news is the Rangers will have more than a couple decisions to make on the final roster.
  14. The good news is Quinn has options if it doesn’t work out.
