  1. That’s all fair Though I think that that is least the case with Panarin. He’s so gifted and productive offensively that he’s a cornerstone type piece. And he’s not as old nor does he have the injury concerns that come with Karlsson. If they got him, I would not be upset by it, but they could pass on him too and I’d be cool with it. My concern is that the organization after 2 years of rebuilding and missing the playoffs wants to really try and take a big step forward this offseason with an aim to be very much in the playoff picture this coming season. Personally I wouldn’t mind them taking it slow still and going through another season of rebuilding and getting another high pick in June of 2020. That to me would be the best way for them to set themselves up very well in the long-term.
  2. It just doesnt to me, anyway I look at it. Love the guy. And the 6-7 million range is fair money nowadays for a top-6 winger who is a very nice complimentary piece. But I think that they’ll want that money for other things in pretty short order. And let’s face it, while Kreider could very well go elsewhere and blossom into the 35 goal guy that he probably should be, right now he’s a 25 goal guy and wingers who can score 25 are pretty commonplace and reasonable in price to acquire. They can find his production in a younger player down the road. Trade him. Put him in a package and get another higher pick and continue building fir the future
  3. That’s fair money and term for Nelson and for the Islanders to keep and pay one of their own That’s a fair market price for Kreider too. But I’d probably pass. I don’t know that a commitment like that in money and term makes sense for them at the stage their in right now
  4. Yup He’s carrying a very high load of games for a kid his age. And again, he’s the only amateur on a roster composed entirely of NHL players. He just wasn’t going to get much ice time on that team in all likelihood unless he was dominant in a limited role at the outset and he wasn’t No one should be surprised he wasn’t Even players of that ability level need big blocks of ice time to produce most of the time. Cut Sidney Crosby down to 13 minutes a night and see how much he gives you. I guarantee it’s going to be less and it’s going to be harder for him to find his groove and get going.
  5. Kakko’s stock has risen, but I don’t think it’s risen quite as much as we all may think it has What I mean by that is simply that he’s getting so much attention now from us fans cause we are watching him closely now, many of us are seeing him for the first few times, and he’s performing very well But I don’t think it’s risen tremendously amongst the talent evaluators, scouts, front office people etc. Those people have been watching him for quite some time and while he is playing very well right now, I don’t think they are necessarily seeing him doing anything he hasn’t already been doing for quite a while. So while I think there has been an uptick in his standing with the hockey people, I don’t think it’s a huge one. Still think Hughes is the guy at number 1 for most people around the league and that includes the Devils Hughes is still most likely to go at 1 and I feel that is the case by at least a fair margin.
  6. No I don’t think so It’s more likely simply due to the fact that he’s the only amateur on a roster full of NHL’ers
  7. He totally will Probably needs to gain sone weight and some strength and I’d be a little concerned about him being in the middle of the ice for 20 minutes a night at his size. But he’s undoubtedly a superb talent and a potential franchise player.
  8. Still can’t see Devils taking Kakko over Hughes Lots of connections between them Kid has been projected as the undisputed top pick in this draft for 3 years Shero has connection to his family Hughes is buddies with Hall and they work out together Hynes is coaching him now at the World’s Again they’d be stupid not to at least fully examine and discuss drafting Kakko. But in the end I think that would be just due diligence. They’re taking Hughes While anything is possible, I have no realistic doubts on them picking Hughes.
  9. Get off Kreider’s dick He’s a nice good quality top-6 winger Not very good Not great Not elite He doesn’t shoot well He doesn’t have great hands around the net despite what deflection stats may say He doesn’t score in big spots He doesn’t produce commensurate with his ability He disappears for 6 weeks at a time He’s streaky as fuck He’s a complimentary player He may go elsewhere and blossom That would not surprise me But he hasn’t blossomed here and if that were going to happen it would have Offer him 4-5 years for 25-30 million without trade protection If he says no, trade him and move on
  10. Bobby Clarke had the sugars. Didn’t hurt him Except at the Garden during a game in 78 when my friends dad threw a box of Domino Sugar at him and hit him with it on the bench The usher threw him out and then had drinks with him later
  11. Does not have good hands, so why would we be inclined to think he’ll suddenly develop them and become Adam Graves in front of the net?
  12. A 4 year, $25 million commitment is probably fair for Kreider. I might even go to 5/30. That’d also be in a fair ballpark for him. But anymore than that would IMO be too much.
  13. It?s a no lose situation for the Rangers . While no one has thrown around the whole ?generational talent? label, it?s clear that both players are franchise players one day in all likelihood. As stated previously many times on this forum, the pressure is on the Devils to make the choice essentially for the both themselves and for the Rangers. The Rangers simply get whichever of the two is left at 2. There are 3 things I do think 1) Neither team is going off the board. It?s Hughes and Kakko going 1&2. Just depends on the order 2) Neither team is trading their pick 3) Regardless of anything, still almost impossible to see Devils passing on Hughes

  15. Here here. That’s my feeling as well. He’s a nice compliment in the top-6. Not an elite level guy by any stretch though. Too inconsistent. Too streaky. Too many instances of him not showing up for lengthy periods of time. Not worth a 6 year investment at around 40 million dollars . I say trade him. They’d surely get a nice return on him.
  16. That’s a very fair evaluation of him. Very fair. I think he’s absolutely worth long and hard consideration But if it’s 6 years and in the $40 million neighborhood, I’d probably be upset if they did so.
  17. I don’t feel it’s his center either. You’re right about his hands and his shot is not anything to lift you out of your seat I’m just curious about him being matched with a center that can match his speed. Oilers have had a very hard time getting their hands on wings to keep up with McDavid. That would be intriguing
  18. Kreider has never been an elite level offensive player. He has wonderful speed and size, great strength and he’s a fitness but. But he’s about an average shooter. And he’s exceedingly streaky. I’d be curious to see what he might be like playing with a truly elite level centerman. Not a knock against Zib, who had a career year this season. But he needs to do that again to really vault himself into the kind of company I’m talking about. Imagine Kreider playing with someone like MacKinnon or McDavid. A guy who can really carry and distribute the puck and create space. And the speed would actually be a match Personally if I were Sakic, I’d seriously be taking a long look at Kreider. That’s a one line team out there. Add Kreider and a center to play behind MacKinnon, then that team looks nice. They could put Kreider and MacKinnon together and move Landeskog or Rantanen down. That would look nice for them
  19. Pat Poulin was a nice bottom 6 NHL player. Obviously not what you want out of a top 10 pick but he had a decent career before injuries slowed him down I do remember him being very solid on the PK
  20. That’s fair. Thought he’s overpaid on a few deals now. This one Adding Miller to McDonagh deal And the deal to move up and get Miller at last years draft. But prices are what they are. And he’s gotten good returns
  21. I saw Gilroy play in person many times in college. I’ve seen Fox in person just as many times While I’m not a scout or talent expert, just based on that, Fox is far ahead of where Gilroy was. And it’s not even close.
  22. With any draft pick or amateur signing you’re doing it on potential and ceiling and the chances they reach that. Bottom line is Fox has a higher ceiling and is the more likely reach his potential than either of the players they’d select at 37 this year and with that other pick next year. It’s a safe bet. They know what they’re getting and they like it more than what their options would be with those 2 other picks. 2nd round NHL picks aren’t like NFL 2nds. Not tons of value. Don’t see tons of great players come out there.
  23. Fair point But 3 of those 4 are wingers And the one center in that group plays behind Stamkos and with Kucherov
