  1. I still think he gets extended or moved this summer. It may wait till after the draft when extension talks can begin anew. But I don?t think they want to deal with all the chatter like they have the last 2 seasons as they have approached the deadline. Am I mistaken, or has it been out there in a couple of outlets that he?s not likely to be in camp without a new contract in place?
  2. I agree But no one is talking about Ottawa or Winnipeg I’m more desirable destinations than the frozen north.
  3. If it’s a team that is not on his no trade list you’d have to figure they’d at least have some possibility of extending him
  4. True But they did talk earlier and they know some of the market so there’s at least something to go off of
  5. Yes If I’m another team I’m not at all dealing for him if I’m not extending him.
  6. Maybe a little. But it’s pricey to move up in 1st round more than 2-3 spots. They’d be moving up 9 spots, nearly a third of the round, in the 1st round, and they’d be only 1 pick below the top-10. Its costly to do that. If they like someone up there a lot, and they aren’t going to pay Kreider, fuck it. Pull the trigger
  7. If you feel you can extend him, that?s a fair deal
  8. Article in Philadelphia Inquirer today saying Flyers pick at 11 is available. Not that they’d make a trade with the Rangers in all likelihood, but it is out there and they speculate it could be used in a package to Winnipeg for Trouba. https://www.inquirer.com/flyers/chuck-fletcher-flyers-2019-nhl-draft-kevin-hayes-trade-possibility-20190610.html
  9. I would agree with that. I think they’re a playoff team in 20-21. But I view that as part of the improvement process. Two years of really bad play, 17-18 and 18-19, a 3rd season wherein they still miss the playoffs but are better and maybe have a shot at a spot late in the year in 19-20, and hopefully a solid playoff team in 20-21. Hopefully they then open a window of 3-5 seasons from 21-22 on where they are legit contenders. Panarin is by no means a foregone conclusion, though I think they have a legitimate shot at him. But even with him, I don’t like their chances at making the playoffs. 20 points is a huge margin. Especially when they’ll be playing even more kids. Honestly, I’d be happy this year if I saw just a few things. Good debuts from the rookies. Improvement from the other young guys we’re counting on moving forward, and an 8-12 point improvement in the standings resulting in meaningful hockey games in March and April. They certainly don’t need to rush the process, but the sooner you get your young core playing important games late in the season, the better off you are. If they can by in large do those 3 things, the season would be a big success. Relative to the rebuild that is.
  10. Agreed. Much of what they may achieve hinges on a group of young D, many of whom have yet to play at the NHL level yet and will probably need a fair amount of time to develop once they reach the NHL as well. Improvement should come over the next couple of seasons but with so many unproven players it’s likely a while before they have a serious shot at winning
  11. I can’t call it waiting A true, complete, well formulated, and properly executed rebuild is generally going to result in 3 seasons of missing the playoffs. And that’s a fair price to pay if you’re good for a long period of time afterwards
  12. Value-wise, that’s probably true. But if you’re rebuilding and you aren’t going/wanting to pay Kreider, I’ll take the pick at 10 instead.
  13. Do you mean if you’re the Rangers or if you’re Vancouver?
  14. That would be a deal that makes a lot of sense for Vancouver, if they feel good about their chances of extending him.
  15. In the absence of them moving up from 20 to grab someone they really like, they just need to grab BPA, unless it?s a goalie, and let the chips fall as they may on whom ever they select there. I still think that there are teams in the 10-18 range that are absolutely willing to do business on their pick. Particularly Florida at 13 and Colorado at 16. Possibly even Vancouver at 10. Canucks are rumored to be open for business and in on or open to just about anything save a few of their young core players. If the Rangers really like someone that will be available at 10, and their willing to part with an asset or two that could help Vancouver now, they could absolutely get that pick from them at a fairly reasonable price. Canucks also have $31 million in cap space I believe. They can totally add payroll and improve via both trades and free agency. And it?s lookig like they feel now is the time to start spending again to accelerate their rebuild. That is not a great division. It?s wide open and there?s a couple teams out there that are really on a backslide and at least one more that likely will decline. Prime time for them to really move and improve. They still have big holes. But they have means and opportunities to fill them this summer.
  16. Puck moving, offensive D are the way it’s trending now. But I agree. Need to mix in a couple stay at home, shut down type guys And is anyone in our system going to be a high-end two-way D?
  17. Wouldn’t surprise me either. But I’ve always felt that was such a superficial action. Just to get SOMETHING, even if that something is worth two steps north of nothing. Hard to see them getting above a 4th round pick in any deal like that.
  18. With an 8 year deal to Panarin, they’re assuming he gets traded before signing it I presume?
  19. He’s had his successes. Really has done everything but win a Cup. But you’re right. His days as a HC are over. I can’t see him getting another opportunity from someone
  20. I’d love to have him, but I don’t see him leaving SJ, and I wouldn’t want him for more than 2 years. And that probably doesn’t get it done
  21. Ok cool Lol I dont know you well On the original point, I didn’t have a problem with them keeping Ruff around last year, even with the lack of success he’s had, to be a veteran guy to help out a 1st year NHL head coach. But now, Ruff has to go and Quinn should just hire who he wants. Let him sink or swim with his own guys.
