  1. I got the Cats in 6

I can't help it, I actually like PAul Maurice, and I also would like to say that we lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champs.  I'm not sure Skinner is gonna hold up against all that net storming Florida does, and I also don't think Edmonton will be able to hold up against their physicality.

  2. I think it's probably unlikely we move him over this off season;

We're certainly not buying him out, and what team is gonna want to take on an $8 million contract to get what they saw in the ECF?  Maybe is the best I can come up with for that, especially if we sweeten the deal.

    BUT.........

Maybe there is a silver lining, and another approach...  How about Trouba go on the Laffy summer training plan by working his ass off over the off season and getting his slow, fat fucking ass back in shape to what he used to be.  He's the fucking Captain for Christ sake!  Be an example of hard work and re-dedicate yourself to getting back to the player you once were.

He's slipped so far it's not even funny!  He looked like shit for much of the playoffs, and I'm not sure how much I buy that injury bullshit.  If he was hurt that bad, he shouldn't or wouldn't have been on the ice.  My boy Ruhweedle would've been better!

    1) Markstrom has a NMC.  So, the Flames may not trade him anyway.

    2) Shesterkin was a big reason why the Rangers did as well as they did.  It pays to lock him up now.

Markstrom has 2 years left on that deal and NMC's aren't an end-all-be-all.  They can be waived....especially to get the hell outta Calgary!  😃

    11 hours ago, Rangers1994 said:

I wouldn't. I'd lock him up for 2-3 years at $7M per season.

He's NEVER gonna sign for $7 million AND more term than 3 years.  He's gonna go for 7...NO DOUBT!  ...He's gonna get upwards of $10-$11 million easily.  Especially after this playoff run.

    9 hours ago, Rangers1994 said:

$10-$11M per year would be way too high.  Anywhere between $8M-9M would be ok.

....Keep going!  When you hit $11 million he'll start to listen.

I'm getting ready for the inevitable, my good man.  Igor is a fabulous player...probably one of the best to come down the pike since Hank.  But he ain't stayin for that much.  We're gonna have to let too much talent go to pay him.

I'd rather us keep guys that are differnce makers, where we won't need a 4x6 piece of plywood in front of the net every game.  Adin Hill won a Cup last year....as a matter of fact every team that's won a cup so far has done it without a guy named Igor.

So it's possible to win it.  The team needs the right chemistry and balance to do so.  We have to be careful as to where we spend our cap.  Drury knows what to do;  Whether it's to sign him or not, and for how much....Dru will make it so, and I trust him.

Some people are going to have to accept that breaking that cycle might come by adding to the roster, not removing players from it. Another thing people will need to accept...The Rangers lost the games by a goal. If Jake Guentzal was on this roster they might still be playing.

Reality is they need a RW and possibly a 3C and 3RW if Kakko goes, and a bottom pairing. If you can get playoff performers in those roles, that's all you really need.

People want to talk about our stars disappearing but Barkov (2G last 10 games) wasn't great and neither was Tkachuk (1G last 10). Tarasenko was dropped to the third line. Florida got down lineup contributions from guys like Tarasenko and Lundell, and they had a 3rd pair playing the best hockey of their career.

I'm open to whatever happens this summer. Trade everyone for all I care. But if they run it back I'm not gonna cry about it and when the playoffs start you roll the dice that the puck will bounce your way more than it did this season.

Because the reality is that's about all they can do based on what the contract and trade protections are.

I'm ok with this too, Pete.  It might be our option considering we get one more swipe at it with Igor.

Anderson had like 5 points that playoff.

Gartner had 11 in 18 games for TOR. He ad 26 points in 29 career playoff games for NYR.

But we won the cup.  ...and who said he would've done anything for us?  Anderson had chemistry with Mess, Graves and MacTavish...had 5 points, and played tough.  I liked Gartner too, but some moves aren't made for points....maybe to make a point  😉

  6. If I'm a GM I'm not trading Brady.  He's exactly what the NHL is moving toward.  Recently I seemed to think lots of teams built a more skilled lineup from lines 1-4 and moved away from bigger, tougher "checking line" players, or so it seemed to me.  Now, looking at Florida and their success over the past few seasons, they have a much bigger. tougher, brinding type player lineup in that lineup.  Hell, even their 1st line has a lot of grind in there.

I really couldn't see Ottawa trading him...for just about anything!  Why take on weaker players that just showed you they failed?

Skilled perimeter players can only take you so far.  They can get you to the dance, but they ain't taking you home!

It's now a lot clearer to me why the Rangers traded Gartner at the deadline in '94.  Keenan really knew more than we did afterall!

Kid has tasted NHL ice time and the playoffs. He'd be wise to train all summer long and come back in the fall with his head held high.

He came a long way from elbowing Siegenthaller to ice time in the playoffs in a pretty short amount of time.

He has a great attitude as well.  Very coachable player who got some great experiene as a 21 year old.  Lots to be excited for with Rempe.  I would love to see Edstrom follow in his foottsteps too.  I think both are going to be mainstay 3rd or 4th liners here.

Was Trouba always this bad? Okay, maybe not this bad, but was he always bad?

I feel like there's a good chance he doesn't magically disappear in the off-season, which means we're stuck with him for another two years. So, to that end, I'm wondering if they can try to go back and find how he was successful. He's not that old, and I don't recall him having any major injuries - which may explain such a massive drop off. Maybe he needs to lose some weight to get faster, maybe he needs to work on changing up the off-season routine, or maybe he needs a sports psych. Or maybe all of the above and more.

Point is, there's got to be a way to get some semblance of the player they signed to a massive contract.

There's no substitute for stupid though, Morph.  He made bad decisions and dumb plays that caused him to take bad and untimely penalties.  The physical part I'll buy...that you can change...the "stupid" is a differnt story.

  9. Oh this fucking guy's gotta go!  Eat the $2 million and trade this guy already!  Make Tro the Captain!  He deserves it!

I've been waiting for this thread!  I'm watching the game with Keith and the minute douchebag goes to throw the check and missed, I fucking said it right to him;  "Trouba just missed, watch this!".  Sure enough fucking Florida scores their 1st goal of the game with :48 seconds in the period!  @Keirik

I've had it with him...and I don't give a shit if he was injured or anything like that.  11 fucking penalties and a train wreck on D.

    Bye!

These are always fun, Ozzy. Thanks for another year of putting the work in. I thought I should've at least won once or twice. 😏

Now, you can take your summer vacation, although I'm sure you miss reading through the shenanigans that are our game day threads. 🤣

You were in the running for all of 'em, Sharpy!!!

Final Power rankings will be out tomorrow, with all the rankings and the grand prize winner!

  11. FORE!!!

Hey look, sometimes the other team is just better....that's all.  Florida outplayed us in pretty much every aspect of the game of hockey.  That being said, all the games were basically one-goal games.

It was great to get Big Daddy @Keirik out for one more game before we hit the off season.  We went down in a heap together at Rockwell's...the place I kicked off this magical ride of a season.  Unfortunately that ride came to an end a little sooner than I had hoped.

Here are the Top 9 nominees for tonight's, and the very last of the season's “Ozzy Quote of the GDT”, sponsored by Blueshirts Brotherhood!  Yessir!!  The place to be this off season to hang with all your favorite NY Rangers fans!

    We ain't goin' nowhere!!!

    Well guys, that's a wrap!

98 consecutive Quote of the GDT's in the book, and you didn't miss a single one!  I hope we can look back and appreciate this past season with all of the highlights we had along the way.

There were a lot of good things to feel good about, and now that I've had a couple of days to digest everything, I think we had a pretty successful season.  No doubt it was a fun ride....but sometimes these things end abruptly, and unfortunately for us this is part of the journey.

We will be back, and I'm sure there will be some changes to make us even better for the next kick at the can.

The winning quote for Saturday night’s GDT goes to Vodka @Vodka Drunkenski!!!  Definitely spot on with that one!!!

One day we're gonna figure out a way to get back to hoisting that silver chalice again!  ...but in the meantime, you guys have a fabulous summer.

Thanks so much for being a part of this all season long.  You guys are the funniest fucking wild Ranger freaks on the planet!!

  12. There were points in this one where I thought we could pull it out, and then there were a lot more moments where we were the 3rd best team on the ice.  Yeah I hate Dan O' Rourke too, but we just got pinned in our zone for way too long.

Bad turnovers and if Igor wasn't super human, this series probably would be over after this one.

Limited scoring potential. Not upside. Upside is reserved for players who show real flashes of talent, like Lafreniere did. Kakko never has. His highlight reel is one sequence long.

True, Phil...and I'll echo Philly's comment in making room for new guys.  I just hate to give up on players like this.  Laffy made us eat shit this season and thank god!  We did see some flashes with Kakko last season, but this year was a shitty one with the injury and all.

I think he gets one more chance with a "Show me" deal.  After next season, if there's no heartbeat, I'd say adios.  Again it's like you said, "what we're looking for".

I just don't see us getting anything of value in return for him, but I've seen worse trades.  Maybe use him as a sweetener to unload Trouba??  ...but that's for another thread! 😉
