  1. would be exciting to see him get another shot as part of a team that can actually win using style of play instead of being desperate for heroic individual efforts
  2. Who was the bald guy going down the middle? Shooting? Getting his own rebound?
  3. Yes, but the point is you can still arguably project kakko will be a higher producing player than buch - and buch has turned out to be pretty damn good.
  4. We doubted whether buchnevich would ever 'arrive'...and Kakko's skill and effort level have both been higher than his was the first few years.
  5. Yup...and depending on how you simulate (not adding goodrow in that case?) May only eat into the 11.5 mill a bit... And kreid-zib-buch wouldve been a hell of an improvement on line 1 the last 2 years
  6. If we want to evaluate the panarin signing, gotta come up with some scenarios/simulations of how else we could have spent that money at the time and/or last few seasons...any takers?
  7. Not a fan of moving him to the RW...again...(nor the first time) But i can't really argue with anyone who says he should have proven and earned his keep by now... Just think with 1OA like that...the ideal situation is you get put on the top line (in your natural position) on a team with low expectations, and have alot of freedom to play your game.
  8. Trochek's interview is the most directly damning account of the GG era I've heard...and he was supposed to be a 'GG' guy
  9. Hey, we finally got a really good prospect who looks like hes developing on or ahead of schedule...lets fuck him up and change him to rw...
  10. I second 40+ goals for Chytil. What was last seasons winning prediction?
  11. Forget that. Lets speculate that Panarin will put up 80 pts at RW vs 95 at LW. And that Laff puts up 60 at LW vs 40 at RW. You'd be up 5 pts + laff actually materializing into something and more to come. My assumption is that Panarin just has the talent and confidence to be more productive on his off wing.
  12. Why not move Panarin to RW? Hes shown strong ability to adapt to wherever he's stationed on the pp. The guy is super confident and creative (when he shows up) and i have no doubt hell adapt and produce at RW....laff...not so much
  13. Zuc shoulda been a ranger for life. Beyond his production, hes a special player to watch and root for. One of the most beloved rangers of all time.
  14. I think individual players softness probably gets overstated relative to team style of play. Panarin wasn't known to be soft before he got here. Kreids, Kakko, Trochek...these are not guys whose very makeup seems to be soft - maybe they've been showcased in a 'soft' system/culture. Zib is just a world class player - you don't dictate too much to a guy at his level - just unlock his natural genius. Whenever there gets to be this reputation that most players on a team fit a certain mold, i ask the question - how did that happen? Like - what are the chances the NYR just happen to miss on a consensus 1OA and 2OA? What are the chances the NYR just happen to sign, extend, trade for all these 'soft' players? Seems more easily explainable by the system.
  15. Adding a gritty player or two won't turn the tide on overall toughness if it doesn't get built in to the overall team's culture and style of play.
  16. Obviously can't really fault the Rangers for going with the #1 consensus pick at the time - theyd've been 'laffed' out the building had they picked stutzle #1. But it is worth exploring what they could've got in a trade down, and whether teams should be more open to trading out of the top pick in general.
  17. What makes no sense is...he was never signed to be a fourth liner, is clearly an asset as a third liner, and can even give you something unique in a middle 6 role...and in the above roles the cap hit is fair...so why get rid of him?
