RangersIn7
So has buchnevich been a success up to this point? Given his draft position 6 years ago, his age, the number of games he’s played and where he is developmentally, I’d say he’s been a modest success thus far. Successful enough at least to earn himself 2 more seasons at a significant raise and in a good position to really do well for himself moving forward. josh
serious question is Fox really that much of a given? It sure seems like he's a slam dunk and we're already looking far down the road at what his next contract might be. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be wishful thinking and would like to see him play at least a shift before we anoint him a top 4 NHL dman. No. His defensive game is... umm, “developing”

Fatfrancesa
He's been an in=betweener which is why he got a bridge deal. Why does everything have to be black and white? It doesn’t and I agree with his contract and your description of him. I’m just bringing it up because all these guys on elcs don’t have to defined as success or busts at age 22 or younger. Many of them could and probably will fall in between. When they do the rangers may have to decide on players who are still babies. That’s all. Many are posting here the black and white nature of them being either great and it being a good problem or them being bad and not having to worry about paying them because they are a bust. It’s naive as you say. It won’t be so black and white.

Maybe spend 5 minutes on Cap Friendly like I did and create a roster. I showed it was completely doable to make a 2021 roster where some players like Buch and ADA got overpaid and we still had plenty of room. No one else has. People throw around half thought numbers. Show the math...

If he did, please link me to the post with a Cap Friendly chart. Not a random list of numbers with no cap associated to it. I'll save you time. There isn't one. Show the grid with the math. The following year is the big problem with Zibanejad a ufa and kakko Fox Kravtsov all rfas. By that point Zibanejad will be aroond $10m a year and kakko could be more. Kravtsov and fox could both be bridged but if signed long term 6-8m each.

Just asking who they are and their hit. Again, all up against a very conservative $85 cap. At that point you also probably move out Skjei. Not seeing the problem. Drew a Penalty
I think Skjei gets exposed in the expansion draft unless he really takes big steps over the next two seasons. By that point Miller should be making his debut and at least one or two of Hajek, Lindgren, Rykov, Reunanen, etc. should hopefully be pushing for higher roster spots with considerable pro experience. Wouldn’t shock me if Robertson also enters the running.

Brendan Smith going off is good stuff, but I'm not even going to pretend that happens and he gets re-signed and for the same caphit as a 3rd line winger. For starters, Zib/Skjei/goalie out in this scenario. You can't keep both Georgiev and Shesterkin. At some point they'll have to make a choice on that. Probably once Shesterkin's entry level deal is up, or sooner if either one of them pushes the other out of the way. The 3rd and 4th lines make way too much money. Buchnevich and/or Lemieux gone. Albatrosss
I may be off on this but what I find generally amusing is that many who clamoured for a TRUE rebuild got off the wagon at the first hint of a sexy UFA. Now, it seems like rebuild has gone off a little half cocked to me, there's doesn't seem to be an obvious plan up the middle other than to throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks. Instead, they blew their wad on a winger, for the only reason that he was immediately available. he's just one player. I don't get why you are blowing a lid over one guy. he doesn't make or break the team. in 3-4 years he'll still be in his prime
