If Belgium doesn't have as many injuries, they go on and make the final. Their best defensemen were all either out or playing in a different position than with their club teams. Imagine this team, but with Kompany to lead them. Different story.

In the end, a weak champion, for an overall weak tournament.

Way too many boring games. Not even really the fault of the bloated competition, but style of play is just too boring.

Teams played one of two styles: "Park the Bus" or "Controll the ball"

Both not very exciting.

So you might have heard about it or not, couple of weeks ago someone planted a bomb to attack the bus carrying the team of Borussia Dortmund to their Champions League match against Monaco.

Luckily the bomb went of a bit too late and "only" injured on of the players. (Had to be operated on the wrist)

Of coure the usual suspects (Islamists) were suspected and rounded up, but aside from one being arrested for being in ISIS in general, no one could be connected to the attack itself.

Multiple letters were found claiming it to be an islamist attack, but they were considered so atypical that Police suspected a diversion tactic, even more so after another letter was planted online, claiming it to have been done by the radical left.

Today we finally have an arrest and it turns out to be a guy with german and russian citizenship, who tried to "kill as many players as possible", because he made a bet against the price of Borussia-shares at the stock exchange. (only club in Germany of which shares can be traded)

Stuff is getting weirder all the time.

USA misses out on the World Cup

what an embarassment. this whole national program is fucked.

Pulisic deserves better. A guy who is en route to being one of the best players in the world and he's going to be watching the WC from home because of this horseshit.

losing to Trinidad and Tobago in a game you only had to tie. an absolute (but well deserved) joke

To add insult to injury, Panama got awarded a goal against Costa Rica that had the ball never cross the goalline.

There could be a protest against the result by Costa Rica therefore (if they care), but precedense says FIFA will back the Ref, even if the mistake is obvious. We had a similar non-goal in the Bundesliga a few years ago and FIFA prevented a re-match.

Wouldnt matter for the U.S. anyway since Honduras beat Mexico.

Actually it would, since Panama needed to win to move past the US.

If Panama doesn't win that game, the US would take 4th Place and play Australia in a 2-game Playoff for one of the remaining spots.

Ah, I did not know that part. I thought just the top 3 made it and that was it. Didnt read anything about a 2 game playoff

Just getting into MSL soccer these past few years. Red Bulls season tickets the last 2 and re-upped next season. Tyler Adams and Kamar Lawrence are solid players while Robles in goal continues to be made of iron. We have a nice squad and provide entertainment. That said, it is becoming very apparent to me that Euro player's skills are on a different planet! HOLY SMOKE!! We went to the friendly at MetLife Stadium this summer and were treated to some amazing soccer.

US Soccer missing WC is a damn shame. We have players who can compete. I'm too green to see the errors of our system just yet but look forward to learning more from everyone here.
