Cash or Czech
No, the package you suggest FAR exceeds the Vegas alleged offer. I’m not sold on Jones, and he’s the exact opposite of Hague.
torontonyr
With the Kings dropping out of the running, I can't help but feel Sather is guiding Drury on waiting out the field and leaving Buffalo without options.

torontonyr
And then trading way too much, as is the Sather way Did Sather trade away too much? I always felt like he was more of a fair deal guy on trades, if not coming out on top, but UFAs were the issue.

RangersIn7
Other than the McDonagh trade, what deal did Sather really knock out of the park?
Sharpshooter
Where'd you read that? Well, just an assumption that he's working with Drury since he's both President and GM and no JD around. Sather is still here as an 'advisor'. So, he could still be in his ear a bit.
torontonyr
Haggerty -> Raanta Del Zotto > Klein Gabork++ -> Brassard Dorset Moore Werek -> Lindberg Higgins/Kotalik -> Jokinen Prust 3rd(?) -> B. Boyle Ward -> Avery Carter -> Jagr Above are some wins that stand out. Definitely some other more even splits, but rarely a loss.

Phil
Other than the McDonagh trade, what deal did Sather really knock out of the park? Most of them. It's free agency he routinely bungled. Haggerty -> Raanta Del Zotto > Klein Gabork++ -> Brassard Dorset Moore Werek -> Lindberg Higgins/Kotalik -> Jokinen Prust 3rd(?) -> B. Sharpshooter
Sather was there as an advisor for Gorton, too. Right. But, I'm thinking that since Drury is pulling double duty, Sather's advising role is a bit bigger. Perhaps not, but it crossed my mind.
Phil
I mean, maybe, but it's mostly just fan fearmongering that's driving that narrative because Sather showed up during the press conference. Either way, we've no real reason to assume it's not Drury's show.

Either way, we've no real reason to assume it's not Drury's show. From what we understand, Sather isn’t even in NY the majority of the time. He’s also about to turn 78 and a cancer survivor. Not sure he’s really too involved in anything at this point in his life. And I’m not an ageist. Just don’t think he’s working all that much or is particularly very much involved

I think he’s sitting on his ass, smoking his cigars, boozing it up a little bit, taking the occasional phone call, and collecting a paycheck.
