Phil
My old Bose Companion's are no longer companions. Just companion, singular. Right speaker refuses to play. Yes, all the wires are plugged in. Yes, I unplugged and re-plugged everything, restarted, etc. Yes, the balance is centered on my computer. Pretty sure she's just dead. All I hear about is how Bose is a rip-off, so let's hear it — what should I get? I don't want cheap shit, but I don't need a set of $400 speakers either. These are going into my office where I listen to music occasionally, but not nearly enough to warrant something over the top like that. It's why I stuck with the $100 or so Bose. I also really like the design of Bose speakers, so keep aesthetic in mind a bit.
Respecttheblue
I like a basic pair of studio reference monitors. These are a decent price and most peeps find value for the buck http://www.bestbuy.com/site/m-audio-studiophile-4-bookshelf-speakers-pair/8256503.p?id=1208561582512&skuId=8256503#tab=reviews

Karan
I've always had a good experience using Logitech speakers. I personally use the Z-5500's but if you're looking for a set of stereo speakers where aesthetic's matter how about some of these: - http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/bluetooth-speakers-z600?crid=47 - http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/speaker-system-z523?crid=47 - http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/ls21-2.1-stereo-speaker?crid=

Saucy Mitts
I hear those Beats by Dre are quite the bee's knees.
Myusername
I hear those Beats by Dre are quite the bee's knees. For 30 bucks maybe. Most computer speakers suck because they are being driven by the garbage amplification built into them. But like others said, I've had good luck with Logitech before i went all audio crazy
quick release
http://www.amazon.com/Audioengine-Premium-Powered-Desktop-Speakers/dp/B000VKEFN2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382305718&sr=1-1&keywords=audioengine Audio Engine's. No question about it. My friend got a pair of the a5's based on me telling him that's what the guys over at AVS forums recommend in that dept. He is in love with them. They're more like $300 though. The A2's I'm recommending you are $200 although you can bid on these babies right here and probably snag the pair with the tilt stands for $150. That's what I would do if I didn't try and find an old set of Boston Acoustics on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AudioEngine-A2-Powered-Stereo-Desktop-Computer-Speakers-with-Tilt-Stands-Black-/281191586630?pt=US_Computer_Speakers&hash=item4178531b46
