Good deal. Teams’ best players are probably about to start getting well over 10 per.

Rangers are always ahead of the trend!! You're welcome Breadman!!

Makes the Zibanejad contract look even better

This has quietly been one of the best deals in hockey for its entire duration

The Bobby Holik contract is almost good!

It's staggering to think that he was paid $9m a year 21 years ago, when the general pay scale was nothing compared to today.

I'd rather have Matt Barzal at $9.14 per than Aho at $9.75.  NOT!

Seems like a lot for a guy that technically has inly out up 70+ points once. He's very good, but I feel like he's perpetually about to "take the next step" without ever actually taking it.

edit, he’s twice put up 80 points so I’m wrong there.

I guess on pure point totals, maybe, but man, this dude's such a gamer. Lock for 35+ goals and he's only a year removed from 81 points in 79 games, too.

Very true, and he plays a very responsible two way game.

oh and a quick look seems like I was a bit off point total wise. Twice he was in the 80 points. He just doesn’t wow me though and I feel like there is another gear there.

...and I keep thinking this is the Hartford Whalers!!!

This franchise has come a LONG ass way!!!  Aho is a solid extension.  Can't go wrong here!

Aho is on par with Zibanejad. 5v5: Aho. PP: Zib. PK: push.

The difference is Aho is only 26 and entering his prime, so he likely hasn't hit his ceiling yet. The cap is about to sky rocket and he's selling all of his prime years here. The contract is going to age really well.
