I disagree,  currently ~$11 mill in cap space.  Move out Chytil and Laf and bring in Nylander is essentially a wash.  Halak for a mill.  Cuylle, JBrod, and Jones on to the roster is 2.4 mill.  Say 4 for Miller.

That leaves you with 3.6ish.

You can go bargain basement to find a RW for the 4th line for a Brett Ritchie, Josh Leivo, Tyler Pitlick type guy.

That leaves you about 2.8.

From here you can still trade Goody, which I would if....(This one is for @The Dude) you Can sign Domi for 4 or less.  Then utilize Othmann.

That gives you:

CK - Zib - Kakko

Panarin - Tro - Nylander

Othmann - Domi - Vesey

Cuylle - Jbrod - Cheap RW4

and leaves you $1.5 in cap space just needing a 13th forward.  Depending on price you might be able to replace Cheap RW4 with Hathaway.

Not bad. Just an incredible weak bunch of top 6 forwards and the Trocheck/Panarin combo is still a horror show that lives on.

Maybe just move Goodrow or Lafrenière,  sign Domi and slot him in as a top 6 RW who can be pushed down to 3 or 4 C if he stinks.

CK- Zibanejad- Kakko  (it never looked good when tried)

Panarin-Chytil- Domi/Vesey

Othmann- Trocheck- Goodrow/Domi/Vesey

Cuylle- J brod/Domi/Goodrow/ Vesey/Goodrow/Domi.

Gotta keep what little center depth they have, or make a move with one of Chytil, Goodrow or Lafrenière to get a C and a top 6 RW that isn't soft. Nylander is kind of soft, but he shoots a lot and I'd make an acceptance of a soft player if all he does is shoot shoot shoot.... and score of course.

Need flexibility though also. That ability to move some guys around is probably a big must for a new coach coming in.

Trocheck/Panarin will be fine when they have a game plan and know what the other is going to do.  Now add a 40 goals scorer to their line.

CK - Zib - Kakko looked great, they just didn't score as much as they should have.  +4 in goals, 58.2 SF%, 58.3 CF%.

Swapping Domi in for Chytil doesn't impact the center depth.

Soft is a buzzword that gets thrown around too much.  Nylander has 12 goals and 25 points in his last 25 playoff games.  He's a playoff performer.

Toronto would want Miller, not Chytil. They have no need for another center. They'd probably like a [slightly retained] Trouba too, but that would be a no from Trouba's side.

A Miller and Goodrow package would be attractive for Toronto. A young top 4 defenseman, and a "gritty winner".

Who's their 3C?  If they do resign Matthews, are they gonna resign 34 year old Tavares?  Chytil would give them a 3C now and a 2C when Tavares is gone.

I think they have more glaring roster needs that they will focus on if they are liquidating Nylander. There’s not much doubt in my mind they would be looking for a young, but proven, top 4 defenseman with upside for him.

Don’t listen to it. They were creaming their pants about Lafreniere 3 years ago.

So apparently you’re into the gay porn too?
