Interesting to see a team that won't make the playoffs jumping in on him.  I'd imagine they'd want to speak with his agent before consummating this trade.

The Sharks have reportedly been OK with that. So, yeah, this would be a move to a non-contender right now, but presumably a team looking to completely reinvent themselves in the offseason and get back to the palyoffs next year.

He's an RFA which makes this make more sense but I assume they'd probably want a sign-and-trade im this scenario

 

Would LOVE to see him not come east, especially if the Devils are the team that really want him

He's something of a de facto UFA, given that if he refused to sign with the team to which he's traded, the team's only alternative would be to sign him to a one year $10m qualifying offer, which wouldn't make much sense.  I'm not sure he would go along with a trade to St. Louis and agree to sign a long term deal with them.
