The only one worth having at this point right now would be Pionk.

The Rangers need a Trouba. Hence the contract.

Exactly. I don't know why anyone is bringing up any of these guys. We have a Norris Trophy winner and a Trouba locked in on the right side. The guys being talked about would be on the third pair here with no PP time, not producing and being the defensive liabilities we know they are...well maybe not Pionk but still.

It's not about having them playing here, it's about what they got in return, or, what it cost to dispose of them. 

They managed to functionally turn Girardi, McDonagh, Shattenkirk, Pionk, and Deangelo in to tens of millions in (annual) cap penalties, the opportunity to grossly overpay Jacob Trouba, and Nils Lundqvist.

But who cares? What'd we miss out on? More picks? More prospects? Lots of talent being blocked by an MVP candidate, 40 goal Center, the #1 and #2 overall, a Norris Trophy winner...Every team has these kinds of issues. 

You think Carolina is happy with the 1st they paid for Skjei and happy with the 2 second rounders for Fox?
