That's how my 5 year old self fought to and lost to Mike Tyson. I actually went back a few years ago and played the original Punch-Out through, including beating Tyson. Fuck, that was a hard game. Yeah G, there was a button sequence for some Nintendo games....but I fucked it up...It was for Contra, and not Punch Out....go figure! LOL The actual code to be fully armed was "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select, start". That was the "Konami code"...I think it worked on Castlevania too!
