Cash or Czech Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Is he on LTIR? How will they afford him? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Let Palat and his $5.3mil go, and trade away Killorn? It's only $3mil more than what they're paying him now.
LindG1000 Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 Not an issue for this season. His new deal doesn't kick in until 2022-23.
Valriera Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 If Mika doesn't land on 10m+, assuming he has a reasonably normal season, I'll be shocked at this point
Keirik Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 I was always under the impression they can't officially offer a new deal until the season started for their final year. Whoops
Sod16 Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 I think we are heading into an era when a lot of teams look like Toronto, with $40m tied up in four players and a rotating cast rounding out the roster. It will be interesting to see how things go for Tampa next year with the cornerstones still there but a good bit of the supporting crew gone.
BrooksBurner Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 He's worth every penny of that. I'd rather have him than anyone on our roster, Panarin included
Albatrosss Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 i just never looked at him as a star player. $9.5M is star money
Karan Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 i just never looked at him as a star player. $9.5M is star money $11M and above is star money i.e. McDavid, Panarin, Draisatl, Matthews etc. $9.5M kinds puts him in that 2nd tier (top 10) below the franchise players, and he's a playoff beast, so in that regard I'd say the AAV is fair.
Phil Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 He's worth every penny of that. I'd rather have him than anyone on our roster, Panarin included Might be the best contract in the league. There's literally nothing he doesn't do exceptionally well. He's one of those rare breeds to literally appeals to pure eye test folks and chart boys alike.

I'd personally give him a "Panarin contract" without much of a second thought. Given no income tax, this essentially is a Panarin contract down there though.
Phil Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 100%. Wouldn't even think twice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

This is just straight up good for the team and player.
Phil Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 MacKinnon is the best contract. He's losing crazy money. This is just straight up good for the team and player. Ah, fuck, I forgot about that one. 100%. This might be the most commiserate one?
Pete Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Ah, fuck, I forgot about that one. 100%. This might be the most commiserate one?Not even. Just a fair deal based on everyone showing their ass early. They all know what they're getting?
josh Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Seems like he got paid extra for his cups, and that's fine. Still expensive. Oh, plus the discount he took with the current contract. Probably had some nice offer sheets sent to him 2 years ago.
Karan Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Those are superstars Okay. Point's a star, making star money. Don't see the problem here.
Albatrosss Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Okay. Point's a star, making star money. Don't see the problem here. Just saying that i never looked at him as a star, more like $6-7M solid NHLer. Guess his playoff performance gets him extra, which is fine

Guess his playoff performance gets him extra, which is fine Man you need to watch more TBL then. Point is amazing. Like Phil said, he does everything at an elite level. 28 goals, 56 points in 46 playoff games in the b2b SC-wins. That's fucking superstar HOF'er stats.
siddious Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 I’d take point on my team over stamkos at this point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
