The eye-test on Simmonds seems to indicate a guy who no longer plays with that shift-in and shift-out hard edge. I would have like him as a NYR a few years back but not now. Am I wrong?

I don't think so Frank, granted I didn't really watch him much.

Injuries caught up with him, which is expected for a guy with as many miles on him as he has. He can still be effective and he's still a motherfucker to play against, so I think he fits the plan for the Leafs this off-season. Maybe the hope is he can rehabilitate better with the Leafs apparently incredible training staff.
