tphilly5
The rebuild has gone better than anyone could have hoped. We got stars, we got best pipeline, we got cap space, not many bad contracts. There are plenty of other ways to fill a potential hole at center that don’t involve dealing LAF, Kakko, plus something else for a guy making $10m per. I get that there is risk and reward when talking about unproven teenagers, but I like our Cup chances much better by just staying the course. jsm7302
In total Ranger fashion...... With the #1 pick the New York Rangers choose Quinton Byfield. Just read an article that compared the kid to Malkin and Kopitar. With our lack of center depth, this makes sense. Especially with our commitment to CK20 AND Panarin. Best available player or best player for the organizations needs?

Best available player or best player for the organizations needs? BPA. Drafting for specific need is far too risky and too often backfires. Plus, no knock on Byfield, but LaFreniere is so far and away the undisputed top prospect and has been for 2+ years, they can’t pass on him. Plus there's not a guarantee that Byfield plays in the NHL next year, where some projections have Lafreniere in the 60 point range in the NHL next season. And It’s probably best that Byfield stay in Junior another year.

Say again, 1 OVA, and really any pick close to it, doesn’t get traded if and only if because the price is simply this: an overpayment.
