BrooksBurner Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 3x Cups in a row within the next 10 years implies a certain level of continued dominance that is hard to achieve. 4x Cups (no repeats) within the next 10 years. An extra Cup to show for it, but a less flashy result as 3x in a row. Which do you choose?
tphilly5 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 4 in 10 with no repeats. That would be a heck of a decade. 3 in a row might only be three competitive years. I will be thrilled with 1 cup over the next decade.
phillyb Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 One in the next 10 is fine. One in the next 15 is fine. Two in the next 10 would be amazing. Three in a row hasnt happened in the cap era. Four in 10 is incredible and would be as close to a dynasty that you can get in the modern day NHL.
BrooksBurner Posted August 30, 2020 Author Posted August 30, 2020 Three in a row has only happened 5x in history. Toronto X2, Montreal X2, Islanders. Only three teams can claim that feat. None in the cap era. I sacrifice one Cup for the prestige of 3 in a row.
Vodka Drunkenski Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Imagine the total disappointment not winning the 4th straight
ThirtyONE Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 3 peat would be a dynasty. 3 peat would be unprecedented in the modern era. That would be awesome. But 4 would be fine too lol
Keirik Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 4 in a Decade. 3 in a row and not the 4th would always be met by islander fans as one short lol
ThirtyONE Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 4 in a Decade. 3 in a row and not the 4th would always be met by islander fans as one short lol Would they invoke history? In that case we would say we have 7 cups vs 4. So whatever. GIVE ME A MODERN DAY DYNASTY
Keirik Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Would they invoke history? In that case we would say we have 7 cups vs 4. So whatever. GIVE ME A MODERN DAY DYNASTY Lol yeah but I’d say 4 cups in 10 years is a dynasty regardless.
BrooksBurner Posted August 30, 2020 Author Posted August 30, 2020 Lol yeah but I’d say 4 cups in 10 years is a dynasty regardless. Both are dynasties for sure, but 3 in a row kind of puts you in rarified conversation as a top dynasty in history. Especially being the first to do it in the modern cap era. Does you answer change if it's, say, 4 in a row within 15 years versus 5 in 15 with no repeats?

Yeah because then you’ve tied the most in a row in modern day hockey. Think the Canadians did 5 in a row but in the 50s. At this point I’ll take anything lol
SaveByRichter35 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I picked 4 but I honestly don't know which I would prefer. W-L-W-W-L-W would be pretty sweet. I know its not a choice though. Shit, just one W would be sweet.

Shit, just one W would be sweet. I don’t want to get ahead of myself with expectations and obviously there’s still much to be done and still many questions and variables, but one can’t deny that it’s going in a very good direction and it seems that they’ll be a serious contender in short order and for a long time If that winds up being the case, 1 Cup might actually be underachieving

That is my point, as was a few others.
RangersIn7 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I'd still be ecstatic with one. That is my point, as was a few others. Oh yeah. I’d be thrilled with that too. Just saying things are shaping up well and for there to be the potential for a good shot at more than 1.

Shit, just one W would be sweet. It'll be unreal when (if?) the Rangers actually win again, even if it's just one. However, we fans deserve a dynasty. I am greedy. I want multiple. I want Yankees late 90s feel up in dis bish.
Phil Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Four in ten, for sure. It means they built to perfection. Three in a row would feel like the Kings where the gap between contention and non-playoff is like a sheer cliff.

I love how I am the 3rd or 4th person to say I'd be happy with just one but I am the one getting singled out here. JFC, I played your game, I gave my opinion, and concluded that I would be happy to at least get one given the past 79 years we endured.
josh Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 4 cups, because that's 1 more year someone else didn't win it.
Ozzy Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Shit!! I'd be glad with one as well!!!! But 4 in 10 years is definitely a winner!
BlairBettsBlocksEverything Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 3 in a row. then after the 3 in a row we start getting more first overall picks, rebuild it up again and get ready for another 3 peat the next decade
