Dunny
No, you can't manufacture what he brought, it's something that happens organically, it's spontaneous. All the best things are.
Dunny
I actually thought his best performance was only a couple years ago against the Habs. He was obviously on his last legs, cracking voice, etc, but man, that's the one for me, pulling the rally towel and all, very special to me, really sucks that he's gone. Really really sucks. So true, it's authentic. We didn't need towels or fan coaching gimmicks. It was bubbling over. You didn't just hear it, it drenched your skin and bones. John's fist pump wasn't planned. He was a fan and he felt it too.

Sod16
We need to fire up a John Amirante holograph the next time we make the playoffs. Perhaps they should do that opening night next year as a way to start the season. Will he be buried with the rug?
SaveByRichter35
I still get goosebumps from that moment! Same here.
SaveByRichter35
Watched it just now at work with no sound. Seeing that performance so many times over and over again I didn't even need to hear it for it to give me goosebumps.

Stephen
Such a classy thing to do for one of the greatest national anthem performers we have ever seen. RIP John, we will miss you :(

SaveByRichter35
Late to the party but haven't been on in a while. I loved this tribute. I wish they would do this every home game this season. His wife's reaction broke my heart. My only gripe is I wish they would have used a recording of one of his performances from when he was a bit younger and a much better singer. Ozzy
I wonder if the Rangers will go the Kate Smith route with Amirante for some big games. That's actually a pretty good idea, but I don't foresee any "big games" coming up in the near future! Probably easier to just put the man to rest and bring in a new good luck charm for the new kids.
