So 2 games to rest before the playoffs with his team already clinched a playoff spot. Good job, NHL. I hope they finish in 8th and Washington embarrasses them.

This is his third suspension (I think). He got two games, then three games, and now two games in his third offense. NHLPS is seriously a joke.

The general consensus was “dirty but not a suspension” on Crosby, but we all know that Marchand getting two games and Crosby not even getting a penalty was going to be a point of some debate.

 

And, apparently, so did the NHL, which produced a Player Safety video detailing the Marchand suspension that was basically “HERE’S WHY WE SUSPENDED THIS STICK TO THE GROIN AND NOT THAT OTHER ONE YOU MIGHT BE FAMILIAR WITH.”

 

“Stick infractions are common in the National Hockey League. With some exceptions, the vast majority can be sufficiently penalized by the on-ice officials. What causes this play to rise to the level of supplemental discipline is the intent, the amount of force used and Marchand’s substantial history of attacking the lower body of unsuspecting opponents.

“This is not light contact that, while illegal, does not rise to the level of supplemental discipline. Marchand drives his stick up and into Dotchin with substantial force.”

 

IMO pretty poor excuse for not suspending Sidney Crosby for his crotch shot on O'Reilly. The DoPS continuously lets Sid the Kid slide, therefore thats why he doesnt have the suspension history of Marchand. How many times has he used his stick to castrate someone? or the very dangerous slew-foot but doesnt even get a penalty or hearing. Not defending Marchand but he's getting a raw deal when Sid The Kid does the same type of dangerous moves. Marchand is the biggest scumbag in the league and think he deserved more games than 2 for the spear.
