    Better than Goodrow's? No.

There are some analytics that prove that isn't true. I put them in quotes so they can be collapsed. Hunt might be "close" but he played less than half of what Goodrow played. He played no time on the penalty kill whereas Goodrow was 5th in the league among forwards in penalty kill minutes. So he's clearly trusted there.

I'm gonna admit, I haven't watched much Hunt. I'm gonna wager you haven't either because why would you be watching the Coyotes? And why would you be watching Dryden Hunt of all people on that roster? I have seen enough Goodrow, though. I also know who Goodrow matches up against and that's the best in the league. He does that job so well that he's been on the ice for the waning seconds of the last two Stanley Cup championships. Dryden Hunt has barely been able to stick on an NHL roster. I'm not going to count him as better than a very sought after player like Goodrow because the analytics say he's close, not even better.

Adam Clendening was supposed to be on the verge of something if he ever got any more time. All of the graphs said so! What excatly became of him?

Yeah, I'm being slightly hyperbolic, but they are close and that's my issue.  Goodrow is not worth the money when he brings the same type of game that a much cheaper player can bring if you discover that player on your own rather than overpay a guy that has already emerged. Hunt could be Goodrow in a year or even this year and I'd much rather take my chances with that then be saddled with that terrible Goodrow contract.

I was kinda surprised Hunt had enough games played to have advanced stats but good for him.  Not a huge fan of of the Goodrow term but to say he's a better player (or his numbers are better indicating his better??) is a tough one to understand.

Well I think plenty of players are better than Goodrow.  I think he got paid around 3 times his actual value because he was lucky enough to be part of a team that won back to back cups.

We should sign this guys as our #1.  Off ths charts numbers.  Shesty can back him up.

This is a stupid comparison.  Hunt has played more than a full season's worth of NHL games.  It's easy to see it's a good pickup, much like Blackwell last offseason.

  4. He's about to be 35 years old in a couple months and was already slow.  The thought that he can be an effective hockey player on our 4th line is ludicrous.  This is Brashear all over again.  He said all the right things when he got here too.

Not even advanced stats support this notion. I wouldn't get overtly excited over a player in a small sample size on a bad team versus a proven player like Goodrow on a two time Championship team.

Hunt's advanced stats are very good.  Better than Goodrow's and Reaves weren't terrible until last season, which is likely why he'll be a bad signing as he is clearly on a steep decline.

  6. It's Little Caesars.  Never really had it much, but didn't really remember it being that good.  Then after moving to the south it's clearly the best one and it also helps that it's like half the price of any of the other chain places.  You get like a large pizza, stuffed breadsticks and a free 2 liter soda and it will cost like $9.

  7. Some guys get the C and it kind of weighs on them and hurts their game.  Kreider strikes me as the type of guy who would rise to the occasion and actually bring his game up a level with it.  I mean he already disappears or has those passive streaks during seasons where he isn't visible.  I think with the C he would be more inspired to play the way he needs to play more consistently.

  8. Sorry to crash all the sentimental romance, but I don't remember him being very good in his last year or two playing.

We had Lindy Ruff running the defense in front of him. It's probably what gave him heart problems.

  9. Nothing, because this is a hockey team where the only thing that matters is:

    a) can you play hockey and

    b) are you a good teammate?

What makes you think anyone cares what his political views are?

The Tony DeAngelo debacle. He was hated by a large portion of the fanbase long before the Georgiev incident based on his political affiliation and considered racist. Eichel was apparently tweeting about property damage during the riots so I can't imagine that would be received well.

  10. What will all the liberal Ranger fans do if we do get Eichel? I just read he has very similar political views to DeAngelo and was forced to delete his previous twitter account after tweeting controversial views during the BLM riots. First thing I've heard about the guy that makes me want him, but I doubt the fanbase will be on board.
