I couldn't recall if the NHL was in the habit of waiting until a round entirely completed before starting the next round.

Usually they do, but I do recall I think once or twice before (might have been last season or the season before) that they started one conference while the other conference was playing a game 7.

A Sunday start seems a bit premature as there's 3 Game 7s potentially happening. I would've expected a Monday start at the earliest.

All 3 possible game 7s would be in the Western Conference, wouldnt affect the Eastern Conference at all so the NHL/ABC/ESPN can get Game 1 of Rangers/Canes nationally.

Toronto/Bruins vs. Panthers can start their Game 1 on Monday (if Toronto/Boston goes to a Game 7 on Saturday).

Western Conference can start their Game 1s on Tuesday.

I think that's the problem right now. If Chytil's ready, who sits?

Our "competition" was Rempe and Roslovic, but Rempe sitting for Chytil probably bumps Cuylle down and breaks that line up. Not sure you want to do that. Roslovic had a point-a-game series against the Caps - you don't sit him after that.

    Yay, good problems?

Its easy, Chytil in, Rempe Out.  Verse the Canes you cant have a dude playing 5:00-6:00 minutes and pretty much 0:00 minutes in the 3rd period.  Canes are a fast team, they'll wear out the Rangers with their speed if you are shortening the bench.

As mentioned above, Chytil C 3rd line, Wennberg down to the 4th line, Goodrow moves to the wing.

my guess is if Chytil is going to see any ice time this post season, it is going to be in the second round if the rangers make it.  This series is too physical for Rempe to be scratched and he's having a definite impact so far.

Next round will just be as physical.

Chytil will get in if their is an injury or if they need to change shit up if they are down in a series by 2 games, and looking for some sort of spark

    maybe a bit rough

I dont think we should be counting on him to play meaningful minutes though. Maybe someone can prove me wrong with metrics or something but I don't feel like he's a defensively responsible player and outside of physical play, he's not someone I would rely on for any meaningful minutes. Playoffs you gotta be able to trust all 4 lines and have them play a lot. a roster spot on a guy who might get 4-5 minutes of ice time is not something we should be relying on

As long as he pounds John Carlson, he'll be doing his job.

I think Rempe plays Game 1 and they take it on a game by game basis.  Rempe is most effective on the forecheck, defensemen are focused on him barreling down towards them then on the puck which causes turnovers.

Chytil should be a great fit for that line. He has an excellent shot, and he also has no issues carrying the puck or dumping and going in deep after it, cycling. Underrated playmaker too.

Except for his head and any slight bump can knock him out

If that were to happen, where do you drop Ros? 3rd line would be odd, since you'd have to drop Kakko to 4th line....though Ros on the 4th line would be even weirder?

Roslavic is either 1RW or scratch....No other spot for him w/o disrupting the other lines.

The funny part is thinking about the sheer impact of what losing those 5 1sts would have meant.

No Manny Malhotra. Probably no 7th overall that year either though.

No Marc Savard to Calgary trade and no Sundstrom/Cloutier to Tampa trade, because we're not making that stupid push for Brendl and Lundmark after a disaster season that never happened (and also, no pick to trade Tampa in 2000 anyway.

    Without Brendl, no Lindros trade.

    No Dan Blackburn

    No Pavel Bure trade

Basically, no dark ages if not for Air Force One. Fundamentally shifts the franchise in multiple directions to simply not have those assets. Not to mention Sakic-Gretzky being almost impossible to compete with

Lindros could have probably still happened.....Everyone knows Sather had a hard-on for Lindros and would have figured out something to get him here.
