Two things: 1) You’ll be staring at that still shot anyway. A chance for Strome at redemption and changing the narrative is better than the current narrative being held as truth after he leaves. 2) Stop being a pussy and get ready to put more work in.

Strome under $5M is a steal. If he's willing to go to $4.5M in exchange for going 6 years on term, you do it. It'd be the 3rd best non-ELC value contract on the team (Shesterkin 1, Lindgren 2) and value contracts matter more when attempting to find cap space later. He doesn't even have to be the 2C at that price. He can flex to wing, or move down to 3C. I'll listen to @josh yell Danger Zone for the duration. IDGAF.

Puzzling Kaapo Kakko Scratch Clouds His Rangers Future
BrooksBurner replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I don't think Drury is overstepping the coach, and if he were even trying to, Gallant is the kind of guy who is going to tell him to go fuck himself and play his own lineup anyway. -

Sir, this is a Wendy's -
I think at least through the rest of Panarin’s contract. 4 years. Then maybe a 10 team NTC or something.
-
I figured he’d have been a staple in the Rangers org by now.

Drury already negotiating through Staple? I think there’s only one way to get Strome down into the $4s and it won’t just be about term (6 years min btw). Three magic letters: NMC.

Fuck this thread -
That’s a name I’ve looked at a couple of times and figured there was no way or reason for Ottawa to trade him. They’re probably also deathly afraid of making a trade like that after getting hijacked in the Zibanejad trade.

2021-22 Off-Season Thread — Go Into the Sadness
BrooksBurner replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Yes, but only 1 PP goal and 3 assists. All of his work came at ES, which is incredibly impressive given the 5v5 issues the team had. Have to figure that’s not likely to be reproduced. -

He should thank Winnipeg’s stars for the elevated PP point totals his last year there. I mean he is horrendous as a pointman on the PP. -

I get locking in the money, but I also question desire to win if it is all about that. I find it hard to believe that a competitor like Ryan Strome will just go to whoever is offering the biggest contract out there, after the excitement and joy of a long playoff run. I would expect guys like him to balance salary versus chance to actually win. -
1st bold: You don’t say 2nd bold:

Kakko - 2.5 x 2 Blais - 1.6 x 1 Braun - 1 x 1 Georgiev 2.65 x 1

Sounds like a fit for Panarin’s line lol

Some more information from watching tape. He is not a fast player. He is not going to race around guys with raw speed, but he seems to have a nose for the net. He scored a lot of his goals from around the crease area with the Hawks. I didn't see tape on YouTube for this season with Detroit, but it was easy enough to find on NHL. Bulk (stronger) and a bit meaner, yes. The Rangers have plenty of raw size on the roster. It’s going to come down to adopting the mentality of doing the dirty work.
-
Not much of a concern to me. Tampa won back to back Cups with this down the middle: Point 5’11 183 Cirelli 6’ 191 Gourde 5’9 173 Zibanejad and Chytil bigger than all of those guys. The Rangers only had 3 forwards under 6 foot this year: Panarin, Motte, Vatrano. It’s not about size of the dog in the fight, yada yada.

Puzzling Kaapo Kakko Scratch Clouds His Rangers Future
BrooksBurner replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Agree 100%. Great, mature response from the kid. It couldn't have been easy for him to show up to the rink and not see his name in the lineup. Whatever his emotions were at the time, he clearly got into the right mindset before talking with the media about it. He handled it superbly. -
Tyler Motte 'Loves New York,' Could Be Re-Signed for Less With Term?
BrooksBurner replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
It’s a great 4th line. It’s also an expensive one. I don’t know any contender who is dropping upwards of $6.5M on their 4th line. Tampa’s 4th line cost $2.7M. Colorado’s cost $3M. Goodrow makes more than those just by himself. If he’s on the 4th line, it means the team is either extremely and fortunately deep with cheap top 9 talent, or extremely frivolous with their cap…or both. Goodrow probably needs to be 3rd line at minimum for what he’s paid.
